I got this for my husband thinking it was cute and looked like a tiny thermos. See 1st pic. In actual use this a great thing to bring camping or wherever you may want to cook outdoors. As you can see from 2nd pic the matches a decent size and thickness...3rd pic is showing the covered strike area that comes with 2 extra discs in kit. Hubby very happy with it. Yeahhh

These are some really good matches. I have tried several of them and they light easily every time. I like that they are long so there is less chance of getting burned and can reach where needed. I also like the container. It keeps the from getting broken or wet. These will work so good during camping season to light those campfires. I will keep stocked up on these all season long. I highly recommend these matches for anyone that does a lot of camping.

This kit has nice thick matches. The case itself is really top notch. I got it for potential hurricane use as the case keeps the matches dry. The case is water resistant and floats in water but I don't think I will be needing that hopefully. The best feature of all is on the bottom is a built in strike pad that is covered. They give you 2 others to stick on for future usage. It's small enough that you can pack it in a backpack. Zippo is a name brand and this just proves it. Great product, every household needs it.

The Zippo Typhoon Match Kit comes with 15 typhoon matches, water-resistant storage, integrated water-resistant STRIKE pad cap, includes 2 additional STRIKE pads, and floats in water. The video on this kit shows a match being lit; and after a very short burn, the match is stuck in a glass of water then pulled out; and the match continues to burn. So I lit one of the matches and let it burn awhile, then stuck it in a glass of water. The flame was out, but you could still see it burning. I pulled the match out, and the flame resumed burning until it burned out. Whatever coating is on the matches definitely has a negative smell when the match is done burning. This kit is a must for camping trips, as you are assured you will have matches that will easily light during wet conditions. This match kit is ideal for carrying in your vehicle for any type of emergency you might have where you might need a match. And no more worrying about burning up an entire matchbook to get a fire lit. This match kit will be kept in the car that we take to The Lake of the Ozark but will still be available for use at our home.

I took the opportunity to burn some old bills while testing the claims of the Zippo Typhoon Match Kit. The safest place to burn them turned out to be my grill. If the fire got out of control, I could close the lid. It is true that this match will light even though it is wet. I submerged it in dirty water first, and then struck the match against the capsule's striking paper. The striking paper comes automatically glued to the capsule and it's protected by a thick, but flexible rubber top. While the match was burning, I submerged it back in the same bucket of water. The fire went out and the coated stick turned whitish like ash. For two seconds I thought it wasn't going to do what they claimed. But surprisingly, it did relight itself. That scared me a little, even though I read that it would happen. After the fire reached the end of the coating, it went out again but didn't come back. My husband thinks it is made of magnesium and said that it needed to be dipped in sand to put it out sooner. I was content to use the whole thirty seconds to burn more bills. Even though it was a little scary, I'm glad to have it as part of our survival kit. The design is very creative and appealing. It looks just like a miniature thermos. The body and lid are hard plastic. It requires a little force to get the other end off. The end that looks like a mug is easy to twist, because of that cup handle. This handle is what the package regards as a lanyard. I expected a thick shoe string to be included, to hang around my neck, but I was wrong. The designers did a nice job in selecting colors that go well together. The cap is not a true red, but more of a red orange. I submerged the whole canister in water for less than a minute. It does float and no water seeped in. You will need to make sure the black cap is thoroughly on, to keep the striker patch dry. It wasn't completely on right the first time, and there was some water that got on the striking patch. It looked to me that it would be a good idea to keep this particular feature, dry. This capsule is probably the most practical gadget there is, and would be even more useful if it had a longer burn time. I was going to burn some more paper on the grill and eventually, start a fire going at our burn pile. If I was out camping somewhere, or in another emergency situation, I would want two or three of these in my backpack. My brother is also interested in the camping and military paraphernalia. If he doesn't have one of these, I can see him being delighted if he received a triple set of them.

I am not a prepper but I do believe on being prepared since I live in the country. So when I was able to get the ZIPPO TYPHOON MATCH KIT I was very excited. The ZIPPO TYPHOON MATCH KIT comes with 15 matches. The carrying case for the ZIPPO TYPHOON MATCH KIT has an o-ring seal to keep the water out. The bottom of the ZIPPO TYPHOON MATCH KIT has a striker that is under the rubber cover. I did try one of the matches from my ZIPPO TYPHOON MATCH KIT just to see how they work and they work great. The hardest thing is getting the ZIPPO TYPHOON MATCH KIT out of the packaging, Zippo spared no expense on the quality of the packaging. To me this shows they care. I do recommend the ZIPPO TYPHOON MATCH KIT to anyone who spends time outdoors hunting, camping, etc or if you just want to be prepared. This would make a great gift or stocking stuffier too.

We are into being prepared for emergencies. Trying out these matches fit our needs. I am very much pleased that they work so well. First, they are longer than most matches, 3 and 3/4 inches. They much thicker than most matches. The striker is protected with a water rubber cap. Sweet. The matches are enclosed in a sealed container than can hold 15 - 18 matches. When you strike the match, it has a sparkler effect but bigger. The burn lasts for 30 seconds or until the red part of the match burns down. I tried to blow it out, I could not. I tried using a blow dryer on high and it still stayed lit. I put the lit match under water. It bubbled like crazy and when I took it out of the water it rellit itself. I would like a longer burn time, but 30 secs will suffice to catch most dry starters right away, even in bad weather. Just be careful, the burned out match stays hot for cpl mins afterward.

Item came as described but took over two weeks to arrive. Would not recommend based on the speed of shipping.

I like Zippo products. When I was shopping for windproof matches, I was happy to see that Zippo made them and that they came with a water tight container. So I bought one. Unfortunately, none of the matches would light. I wore out a striker pad trying to light them. When I replaced the striker pad with one of the spares that came with the kit, it did not have any adhesive on it to stick onto the case or any other surface. So it was of little use. The only way I could get the matches to burn was to light them with a burning match. Not wanting to pay the shipping to return this item, I discarded it.
