Excellent in a targeted area where lots of flies land. My older gelding won't keep his head over his bucket while eating, so he drops grain all over the ground. In the summer, that means flies. I hang one of these on the wall under his feed bucket and no more flies. They land, they die. It's that easy.
Our barn located in FL uses these strips throughout the year and every day there are hundreds of dead fly's to sweep up! Try to keep the dust of them as much as possible and avoid getting them wet to maximize the strips life span.
I actually won this in a raffle in a basket, but decided to give it a try after flies were taking over my barn. I was SHOCKED at how well it worked! I laid it on the ground by a stall door where flies were quite visible and by morning this thing was literally buried in dead flies. I would ignore the bad review posted here. They must have not had it positioned in the right place, because this thing works! So every day I lay it on the ground by the stall door (OUTSIDE OF THE STALL OF COURSE!) and watch the flies pile up. There are so many I have to take my leaf blower morning and night and blast them out of the barn. I will keep using these for sure! Well worth the money for the amount of flies it kills. BTW, the flies aren't supposed to stick to it, the touch it then croak and fall to the ground.
If one is willing to use a product that kills flies, this product is very, very effective. One must break the ampule in place though....I was creative and took the ampule off so that I could crush and pour...big mistake.....and at the price, a costly mistake. Now that I know better, the product actually kills hundreds of flies in a matter of minutes
OK, I would prefer fly predators here in FL, where we have flies all the time, but our barn has decided not to go that route, since the neighboring barns don't (and we get all their flies). So the QuikStrike strips are our favorite go-to solution for all these flies. The flies land on them, and their little wings flutter, and they fall over dead. Just about that fast! We put them in buckets, or lay them across the top of a bucket, for easier dead fly disposal.
Initially I thought these didn't work at all. There was ONE fly after two days. But I left it there and soon there were piles of flies around it. I ordered 4 of them and the same was true with each. I gave it 4 stars because of the time it takes to kick in.
Given the reviews about this product I bought it as a last ditch attempt to try and get rid of my increasing fly population in my barn. There are two strips in the box. The most tricky part was breaking the ampule. Squeezing the ampule as instructed didn't work, so I ended up having to crack the glass with rubber hammer. I hung one strip and left the other on the floor in part of the barn with little traffic. The flies seemed to prefer the strip on the ground ( in my barn the flies choose to rest on the floor) , as next day there was a hugh pile of dead flies around the strip on the floor. 3 days later my barn fly population is no more. I think the trick is to place the product where the majority of the flies rest, as they seem to see the strip as an easy supper.
Did not attract flies, did not kill flies, flies were not even interested in this product It did kill my pocketbook
It didn't work at all. I have horseflies by my pool and bought this to hopefully get rid of the problem but I tried the strip and the blue granules and absolutely NOTHING on both. For me it was a waste of money. I wouldn't recommend this product at all.
I was influenced by reviews that claimed this product worked well--the flies were out of control in the barn where I stabled my horse so I bought (2). There were less than 10 flies attached to these strips even after weeks of leaving them hung and following directions. No pile of dead flies as someone claimed. Don't waste your money.
