I never knew how important a serrated prep knife was until recently. I'm simply amazed at how much difference there is in prepping ingredients with the proper tool. It fits my hand well and moves through vegetables with ease. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
A serrated prep knife may not be the first knife you think to add to your collection but once you have it you will find yourself reaching for it often. I use mine for citrus, tomatoes and cutting sandwiches. The Gourmet series of knives are stamped so they have a light comfortable feel but are sturdy due to the full tang of steel running through the handle. A serrated knife never needs sharpening and because this is made from specially formulated steel it is corrosion and chip resistant...you will get a lifetime of use from this knife.
This knife is great for so many everyday tasks from slicing tomatoes or sausage, to cutting up sandwhiches or slicing rolls or baguettes The serration is rounded so your slices are clean, no tears. It's made from high carbon German steel in Germany so I'm confident it's going to stay sharp and last my lifetime.
This is a really premium stamped serrated knife. It looks a lot like the Zwilling Pro, and it has been ice-hardened like the Pro, which will help give the Gourmet prep extra durability and sharpness than most stamped knives. A great starter knife, with the serrated prep, it's a very versatile knife, with the smaller blade, you can still slice bread, veggies, and fruit with it on a cutting board like it's a bread knife, but it's not as daunting in size.
This is a superior prep knife. It fits the place in my collection between my paring knife and chefs knife. I pull it out for almost all of my fruit and vegetable prep. I like the offset handle to make it easy to work on the cutting board or in hand. The German stainless steel blade is extremely sharp and with its unique serration will stay sharp for a very long time. Its great for anything soft or with a thick outside and delicate inside like tomatoes, kiwi or citrus fruit.
It is a versatile Gourmet serrated knife, perfect cutting and slicing bread such as bagel, baguettes and cakes. Despite the fact that this 5.5" prep knife is narrower and smaller than 8" chef knife, it is very useful to have and an easy maneuver design and size. Depending on the food size, it can also cut, chop and slice through vegetables and meat.
This gourmet knife is made from German Special Formula Steel and also forged from one piece of stamped steel so super durable. This blade is razor sharp and the serrations allow you to cut anything with a hard exterior and soft interior, think tomatoes and cucumbers.
The prep blade is great for so many tasks. The blade is a little wider so it provides plenty of knuckle clearance on a cutting board. The unique serration is great for bread and fruits and veggies with tough skins. The stamped blade allows the knife to be a little lighter which may be a positive for some.
This knife is the easy to grab and use for everyday simple tasks. Folks like it for slicing tomatoes, baguettes, semi-hard cheeses, fruits. Good utility knife. The Gourmet line is a very good line of stamped knives. They are manufactured under tight controls and precise standards at Zwilling's factory in Solingen, Germany. They have a full tang, running from the tip to the heel of the handle making these knives sturdy and stable. The comfortable handle is solid without being heavy. Because the composition of the steel, these knives will stay sharp and responsive with every cut. Dishwasher safe, but hand wash to keep them looking new.
Gourmet is an excellent stamped German knife. Made from premium German steel that has been ice hardened for long edge retention this knife is the best you can buy for the value. The shape and size of this knife makes it a great addition to your knife collection. The serrated prep knife can take on small fruits and veggies that are tough on the outside and soft on the inside such as tomatoes, lemons and limes. Use this knife to peel, eye, core and cube a pineapple...you will be amazed!
