I really like this sharpening/honing device. It's easy to use and keeps the knives super sharp. Different stones for sharpening and honing. Stones have 4 sides so you can use this thing a long time! I keep it on my counter next to the knife block. Very convenient. Takes up a little room but having it there reminds me to keep the blades sharp and clean.
I've always been useless with other sharpening tools but this makes it so easy.
I had been looking for a manual knife sharpener as my set of Asian-style/German steel knives had gotten very dull. Purchased this on sale, and recently used it for the first time. Very easy use once I reviewed the instruction manual, and love the easy way to store the sharpening blocks (one set slides underneath inside the arms you aren't using, one set in the unit itself.) My knives flunked the "tomato test" before sharpening, then passed with flying colors after sharpening. So happy I will be able to maintain a nice sharp edge since I am cooking a LOT more these days!
This sharpener is durable and easy to use. The interchangeable sharpening stones allow for precision for both European and Japanese knives. It's lightweight an easy to store. It takes about 4 solid swipes through the sharpener and the blade is as good as new, and lowers the likelihood of injury versus other sharpening methods.
Just started using the sharpener on my zwilling knives. Seems to be doing job very well. Reserving one more star to add for after sharpening my Japanese knives
Very easy to use and I like the storage of the other rods and angle holders. The spring action does make more noise than I expected making a clunk sound when it springs back into position. It seems to work better than an electric Chef's Choice sharpener I had for an old set of knives.
It gets the job done, albeit very slowly. It is necessary to pay close attention to any slight angle you might hold your hand. It might mean the difference between a fully sharpened blade or simply a sharpened side of the blade. Overall, I am happy I purchased it, but it won't replace the company that sharpens my blades. It will only make those visits yearly instead of more often.
It makes the knives sharper but no where near sharp. I tried a few knives using both types of stones as per the instructions and didn't get very sharp so did them all again and same thing. Used my steel after that and this made them a bit sharper but still a long way from sharp.
Does not sharpen at all. Greta idea. Terrible quality. Maybe I got a bad one. Will return
Broke on first try. Returning. Pain in the you know what
