My granddaughters love crafts and I wanted a child-level introduction to stitchery. The thing I love most about this kit that was unexpected is the fact that the designs are not printed on the plastic grid. You get the designs in a little booklet so they can choose whatever they want for each project or even make up their own designs, though you might need to buy some yarn in that case. I also like that it comes with several safe plastic “needles” so you can leave them threaded with the different colors as you work. It is a little fussy to get started, but then you can continue off the pattern you have so far. It is not for children who do not love this sort of thing. It takes some patience and determination. It would be great for beginner adults too.

I like the smaller size for learning cross-stitch. I bought these for my 6 and 8 year old who have expressed an interest in sewing and cross-stich. This is the perfect introductory set and they are enjoying it! I'm pleased with the amount of yarn provided and that there are several sewing needles that come with the set too.

My daughters really enjoyed it, and especially liked the kitten. It can be harder if you don't know cross stitch well, but we were able to figure it out.

The instructions that came are super small and the plastic piece used for the cross-stitch has no markings on it, making it very difficult for even an adult to determine where each stitch goes. Definitely would not purchase again and certainly not designed for beginners/kids!
