I was skeptical at first because of the price, especially since I was originally considering the Ryobi 40V string trimmer because I already own Ryobi products. After using the EGO string trimmer, I'm glad I made the jump. It is extremely easy to use, and one of my favorite features is the adjustable handle. It makes edging much more comfortable because I don't have to hold the trimmer at an awkward angle. The battery life has been decent for my yard, but what impressed me most is how fast it charges. After about an hour, it's ready to go again. Overall, this trimmer feels powerful, comfortable, and well-designed. It costs more upfront, but the ease of use and fast charging make it feel worth it.
I bought my ego trimmer last week and was really impressed when I used it for the first time. It ran smoothly and cut very efficiently trimming the borders of my landscaping. It seemed lighter than I expected given the battery is much larger than my old cordless trimmer. I have used the ego lawnmower for 7 years and have been equally pleased with the trimmer.
I bought the trimmer just over a week ago. So easy to use. It's got very good power and definitely long enough trimming time on the battery. Wish it had some attachment or ring for a shoulder harness. It's a good size machine and I get tired holding it up. I will devise a harness attachment myself.
I am a 69 yr old woman and wanted who needed an easy to handle string trimmer. This has met that expectation. It comes with a durable string line so the line is not constantly breaking. I have only had it for less than 6 weeks so it would be best to review after using it a season or two
My 10 year old Ryobi broke its spark plug wire. I've been wanting an electric string trimmer for a while now. An now, I have a good excuse. After checking out the reviews , I determined that the Ego had the most positive reviews. Therefore, I bought one. I am out of town until June every year. The grass gets kind of wild looking. So, I weed eat first and then mow. The Ego performed perfectly, cutting down any weeds/grass I could find. I was quite pleased. The battery did not last long enough to finish but, it recharged in less than an hour and I was back at it. And, when I was finished my hands were NOT vibrating as with the gas powered one. It is lighter than the gas model and well balanced. I must say, I am more that satisfied!
Good trimmer with one exception. When turned vertically to edge, the guard blocks my view and I can't directly see where I'm trimming. As a result, edging efforts look ragged. On a positive note, like the power and the two speeds. Especially like the self loading feature!
I just bought this tool to replace a corded Black and Decker weed trimmer. I have only used it one time so far, and it saved me a lot of time and strain since I didn't have to lug a 100ft cord around. I was able to trim my back and front yard in about 20 minutes and I only used two bars on the battery. I am very pleased with the performance so far. This is a welcome addition to my tool shed.
More rpm than my old Kobalt but could have longer shaft...not to comfortable for really tall people. Also, battery doesn't last as long as my old 80V Kobalt, which I feared. I was able to trim two large yards, curbing and all, on single 80V, but only got about 85% done with the 56V Ego. Nevertheless, expends line with just a slight tap, unlike the Kobalt, which is a significant plus.
Overall, it's a beast of a trimmer. It has plenty of power and gets the job done quickly. Most of my complaints are on me—I didn't realize the shaft doesn't rotate for edging along sidewalks and driveways. That's my fault for not doing more research before buying it. Because of that, I find it a little awkward to hold sideways when edging. The start/stop trigger also took some getting used to. I pinched my fingers the first few times before I figured out the right grip—lol. My biggest complaint is winding the string. The button is very stiff and difficult to press. It seems like it could have been designed to require less force, which would make restringing much easier. Other than those minor issues, it's been a great trimmer. It has plenty of power, works fast, and I'm happy with the purchase
Bought less than a year ago and the head stopped feeding string. Checked for a solution online and in official forums and found that it is an extremely common occurrence. I contacted support and was told the unit was still under warranty but the feeder is not covered. After a garage full of Ego equipment (that I rave about and convinced neighbors to purchase) I cannot believe I was unable to get a replacement. I've used the trimmer a total of six times.
