I like these matches. I previously bought smaller matches which quite often didn't strike and I was forced to use several matches at one time but the kitchen matches strike every time and produce a good strong flame which is helpful for lighting incense sticks which require a little extra time to ignite. I keep a box of these matches in each room.

I'm very happy that I bought five packages. Last year I had bought three packages from a very popular discount store. They were so thin. They would often break when I was scratch them. I start lighting them on the stove to use for my candles because I didn't want to break them. After purchasing these from Walmart I threw the others away, and kept those from Walmart. They are sturdier.

Wooden Kitchen Matches

Wendy March 26, 2026

These area so easy to use. SO MUCH EASIER THAN LIGHTERS. I don't have as much strength as I used to so lighters are difficult. They light immediately after striking it. They burn a long time. Long enough to light my 3 pillar candle. I love them. Wouldn't these be great on a camping trip! I would be careful if you have small children.

Reliable First-Strike Matches

Kelly April 1, 2026

Diamond Kitchen Matches are a staple in my home because they are high-quality and incredibly reliable. They light on the first strike every time, and the burn is steady and easy to use. I love that the smell isn't too strong, and with 250 in a box, the value for money is unbeatable. It is a must-have everyday essential that never fails.

I live in an area that has definitive seasonal changes. Any matches of this type I've purchased over the years for lighting candles, incense or anything that lights better with a quick strong flame and a bit of room to hold onto have definitely packed in comparison. These are sturdy, ignite fully on the first try and stay burning no matter how long you've had them.

Bought these to use with candles. The "Green" matches won't light so those were a waste. These are like the old fashioned ones and light with one solid strike. The other ones splinter easily and are rather dangerous to use since IF you get them to light they may splinter at the same time and be an open flame close to your fingers or fly off to a table or other combustible location.

thank goodness! finally! it's not the strike anywhere match, but it's close to... matchsticks are sturdy so they don't break, and long burning. Nothing like the penny matches w/the green top, which I absolutely abhor, %26 the price went down!! For a while there I couldn't buy them cuz they were $4 a box! Now they are a dollar- thank you very much Walmart, please don't raise the price. It reminds me of 30 years ago, when I had a gas stove, and heated with wood. I had a cast iron box with a scoop opening at the bottom that you hung on the wall, and you put the open matchbox inside of it. Does anybody remember that? Better days....I know it's just matches but it's nostalgic for me. 🔥🪓🏕️

These are definitely quantity over quality

Jade February 9, 2026

I always have these in my kitchen because they're cheap and you get a lot of them. However sometimes they break in half as I'm striking them or the end falls off. I always strike them over the sink just in case. The strikers on the sides of the box seem to wear out before I use all the matches as well.

Sometimes hard to light, but otherwise good!

Clothesline December 28, 2025

Some match brands are better than others. These are decent wood matches. Not the best, but still pretty good. They burn well. No problem with them staying lit while I am performing a lighting chore. But they can be a bit hard to light at times, even in a climate controlled location. The striking surface on the side of the box often doesn't light the match head on the first try. Sometimes it take a few tries. Sometimes it requires more pressure to ignite the head resulting in a broken match stick. I don't like wasting anything. Not even a match. It all adds up down the road. The price is OK, but the product could be better with regard to getting the match to light more easily using the striking surface provided on the side of the matchbox. I still recommend this product.

Not great for a 3 wick candle

Lisa December 1, 2025

I buy these to light 3 wick candles, birthday candles and outdoor fire pits. These burn really fast if you hold them down to light candles. I never get to light any more than 2 wick on a good day, usually I can get one wick to light and then I would have to get another match and light it. I have to turn the candle upside down so the match is staying upright to get all 3 wicks to light with 1 match. It is a quick burn for the outdoor fire pit and it will quickly light the paper or leaves. It do not make it past 2 birthday candles so I have to use the lit birthday candles to get the others lit. These are easy to light and they are sturdy during the process of lighting and they are great to have on hand in case of an emergency or anything. These come with a lot and they are priced at a reasonable price.
