We were having 4 yards of mulch and 4 yards of compost delivered to our house, so we decided to go with this plastic sheeting instead of more expensive tarps to hold the mulch and compost deliveries. We opened and laid out 1 roll of the plastic for each material on our grass in an area out of direct sunlight (important so the stuff underneath doesn't get hot and emit moisture like in direct sunlight). We had the mulch and compost dumped in the middle of the 10 x25ft sheet and it was big enough to hold the pile, plus had extra on each side to pull up over the piles and secure the edges with bricks, to cover them from the elements. We ended up having about 1 yard of each left over, so we're going to keep them covered and stored like that over the winter for use next spring. So long as the outer edges aren't tight and leave some humped up openings for air channels, the mulch and compost should be able to "breathe" and not get mildewed or rancid. The plastic seems to be thick and tough enough, so it should survive upstate NY winter temps, winds, and snow. So we'll see... If that doesn't work, I will update this review in the spring of 2026.
Stopped using the material weed barrier years ago and bought two packs of this 3.5 mil black plastic sheeting for a landscaping project.. The area beside the house was narrow enough that I only unrolled and did not have to stretch out and open it up so it is probably 14 mil thick now. I put white marble rocks on it as I did not want flowers planted. Low maintenance and easy to cut with scissors but not thin. This stuff is great.
3 of these worked great to cover my 20x10x7 tunnel greenhouse for light deprivation for medical cannabis grow. plastic was surprisingly tough
GOT HERE QUICK AND IN TIME FOR WINTER PLANTING THANKS HAD TO LAUGH AT THE EASE OF USE QUESTION ON THE SURVEY LOL HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO UNROLL AND UNFOLD PLASTIC SHEETING ESPECIALLY OUT SIDE ITS LIKE WATCHING A KEYSTONE KOPS COMEDY
This plastic is thick, durable and covers a large area. Will definitely buy again, it came in handy for putting up in my garage to decorate the walls for Halloween.
I used this black sheeting in my flower bed, and it worked great for keeping things neat and protected. It’s thick and doesn’t tear easily, which is nice.
Good quality plastic sheeting. I'm using it between my raised garden beds with bark mulch on top to manage the weeds. I'm actually going to re-order a couple more rolls for different spots in my yard.
Thick and durable Plastic used this winter to wrap for some extra insulation around home. This is a very durability plastic works great and easy removal if needed.
I’m using this in the garden hoping to reduce the amount of weeds. I put cardboard down then this plastic and lastly pebbles. I hope it works!
I use this product to cover my plants when there is possible frost or freezing temperatures and rain with either. I have other protection under the plastic. I just want temporary protection and use of the sunlight to heat somewhat. Easy to reuse. I use bricks and lumber to hold the plastic down, especially with wind.
