It's sand not gravel which I wanted for what I am going to be growing in it which is some cryptocoryne parva and great accent to my rock piles which I grow my Anubias it's making my 5 plus gallon tank for my betta and my ghost shrimp colony ;fyi if don't have five gallons or more for your bettas then you committing animal abuse and shame on you !!!

Love the colors in the sand. My plants are growing in the substrate better than in just rocks.

It's a different material then standard aquarium sand if gravel. I would definitely pre wash this product. I purchased to make a glow tank. It definitely works for that without any problems at all.

Easy to work with. The sand floats for a little but once all the air bubbles dissipate it settles nicely.

I liked the idea of this product more than I liked the actual product, because of how long we had to spend *cleaning* it, for us to even be able to put it in a tank.. my opinion is that it's great in theory…. if you can actually get the water to run clearly, per the instructions for tank setup!! for literally 2 days my husband and I took turns rinsing/soaking/draining/repeating.. and the water was still so cloudy there was zero visibility, which made me nervous to even consider putting fish in. The problem was that the extremely fine dust like particles were sticking to the inside of the 5 gallon bucket that we were using to clean the substrate in, because it is so fine that we couldn't even see it, until we looked with a flashlight.. so it wasn't even being removed when we were rinsing/draining the water out.. so we then had to wipe the sides after each rinse, to help remove the nearly microscopic powder, that was causing the cloudiness.. After letting it sit/settle for at least a day, if not longer, you will also need to skim the top with a net, to get all the floating bits, so that your fish friends don't mistake it for food.. so yes it's aesthetically pleasing when it's finally setup, but it was definitely more time consuming than I felt was necessary, for fish tank substrate….. I suppose all new things come with a learning curve though, right?.. ha

it was very, very fine. sand kind of scary for the fish. also floated at the top but was pretty. I covered in stones

this was an auto substituted item that wasn't the correct color

this gravel was extremely difficult to rinse clear. Black residue was everywhere and my hands and fingernails became discolored during the rinsing attempt. i am returning an unopened bag.
