Good price for a very light all alloy trike. In this price range one would expect cheap stamped steel components such as hubs, brakes, rims, etc., but the parts and frame of this trike are quite nice. The basket is sturdy, not like the cheap ones made of thin wire that rattles apart.
I received the bike really quickly. Was easy to put together the few parts that came separated. But mostly the bike was already together. You just need a few tools to get the job done. It took me almost a hour to get it together. ( never worked on a bike before ) . First time trying it out I did have to get the feel of it, as its alot different from my 2 wheel bike. But once i got it OH BOY , I LOVE IT !! Very smooth riding. I'm Ready to take it out on the trails soon . Well worth the price and is really sharp looking too. Woo Hoo !!
The 26" Kent adult tricycle gets 5 stars from us, here is why: 1) Well packaged, not a scratch on it. 2) Little assembly required, all parts like screws, smartly pre- inserted in holes 3) Purchased on sale $50.00 off, normal WM price of $249.99, we paid &199.99 4) Bought as a gift for my wife who is 4' 10" tall, she is comfortable with this 26"trike. 5) Trike Seat and handlebars easy to adjust for short or taller riders, I am 6'1" 7) Safe and stable riding experience, front and rear brakes function well 8) Well constructed giving a sturdy, reliable and smooth ride. 9) Great value even at normal WM retail of $249.99. The only drawback was on Walmart. Trikes have to be ordered online which is OK, the Walmart online order confirmed an arrival on Fri Sept 9th, it did not arrive until a week later on 9/16.
William (WM Associate) took my order number and returned within three minutes with my Kent 7-speed Adult Tricycle (assembled by Walmart). It was stunning -- he said he was jealous and wanted one (I thought yeah, sure you're paid to say that). Again, it was beautiful but this was just the beginning. An older gentleman waiting behind me followed me out of Pick-up area and asked if he could have a picture of the Tricycle. Twenty feet outside of Pick-up and someone wants a picture of it? Smartphone out, he took a picture of it and said he wanted one. I picked up three additional items and put them in the basket as I wheeled my tricycle to check-out for my additional items -- the other shoppers stopped and were also stunned by this Tricycle's beauty. The cashier at the self-check-out had the same reaction. She couldn't believe they carried this item in the Store -- I told her it was an on-line purchase and that the Store assembled. The parking lot patrons continued the admiration -- thumbs up, looks great, can we help you load it, etc. Got it home, put it on 4x4 blocks to test all the gears and settings, make seat adjustments, and it was perfect. For one-hour of riding, it exceeded my expectations. Read the manual about the gears and safety, but the most important thing is there are other design features they don't list, i.e. the seat adjustment doesn't require tools -- EZ height adjustment. Even though I live in a "low crime" area, I'd lock this baby up because it is that good looking and performing.
Trike came mostly assembled. Box was damaged and missing some bolts. (probably fell out of holes in the box.) I wrote to Kent asking for missing bolts, but no response after months, so I scavenged bolts from another bike to complete the assembly. I put a electric front wheel kit on it (and quality torque clamps of course) and the trike gets me up minor hills much faster and easier than pedaling. although I expect the aluminum front fork dropouts will eventually break due to the torque of the motor. I am careful not to try to apply too much throttle to start off, and curb the urge to let it spinout in sand. Shopping for replacement front fork now to be prepared for eventual replacement. All that said, using a trike has enhanced my life in ways that I had not imagined possible, with motor added to it, a lifesaving, joyous experience.
I wanted two trikes, one for my autistic daughter & one for myself, so I decided to order both the Schwinn & Alameda. For the price difference it is really worth the extra $70 for the Schwinn. One plus for the Alameda is it comes slightly more assembled. The frame & back end are all one piece & the back wheels are on. For me that's where the positive ends. Being all one piece means you can't return it in your car, you need a truck to come get it. My biggest complaint is it looks very cheap compared to the other trike. The tires look thin & cheaply made. I know I would have had to replace them much faster than the other bike. Comfort & quality seemed of no concern when they made this. The seat sets directly above the peddles which again looks uncomfortable. The frame is thinner & the basket looks smaller. This is all things I could see without taking it out of the box. I never went further because I could see the Schwinn was worth the extra few bucks & decided to return it. Oh ... & one of the biggest downfalls to this bike ... NO padding/protection! I open the box which looks about ready to fall apart, to find they did NOTHING to protect it during shipping! So it is easy to see why some people mention bent wheels & such. I figured if the box is in bad shape, there is nothing to protect it during shipping, & it looks cheaply made .... probably not a good idea to keep it. All that said ... maybe if you can find this item in store already assembled & can verify it works ... well, I still wouldn't because I am sure you will spend more in just upgrading the wheels/tires than you would if you just saved for the other bike (& it still wouldn't be as nice). I really wanted to like this bike. I wanted to get the "good deal". But I honestly think in the long run it will cost you more, & you wouldn't enjoy it as much. Hope this helps!
first of all, the box was damaged. inside was a MASSIVE amount of PAINT. Yes, paint. i was offered 20 dollars for compensation. then 39 when I refused it. paint is on my carpet, my furniture and my wife and I after opening it. it took WAY too long to try to assemble, with the WORST instructions, if you can call them that. Tires wont stay inflated, and the fenders are bent. Dont waste your time or money with this bike, or ESPECIALLY Walmart.
The box arrived at the front door brought it into the house open the box and there was no hardware to put the bike together I had to put the box in the car and take it back to Walmart for a refund. The refund was issued and if I want to buy a bike like this I will buy it already put together from this experience this is what I learned.
Terrible! Absolutely terrible. The special nut for the front wheel was missing, the brake cable was disconnected, and the wrong seat post was in the packaging. It cost us $71.67 to have a bike shop correct those deficiencies. How do I get $71.67 from Walmart?
We were very excited to pick up our bike at thr plant city store, when we put it to gather a simple procedure we discovered that the rear wheels which were pre installed, were out of line very badly on father inspection we discovered that the axel was bent on the left rear wheel making it un rideable, the only way to repair it according to the Manuel was to take it to a bike mechanic, we had just spent a substainial amount for the bike and would be paying more for repairs we did not cause. We returned it to our store in plant city and upon inspection the sales person was very polite and professional and since there were no replacement in stock at the store she promptly returned our money which we appreciate very much.
