My husband has used Tar shampoos for years. I don't like the smell of any of the tar shampoos. I find this product works just as well as the pricer ones.
I have seborrheic dermatitis, so I buy this to keep the dandruff at bay. It works amazing at keeping the dandruff away. I only wash my hair once a week, but I'm sure if I washed it more often, the product would work better %26 I wouldn't have to use it as often. Beware of the smell, though; I've been using this as my only shampoo the last year, so I'm used to it, but it definitely smells of burnt tires. The smell does not stay in my hair, so long as I use a conditioner afterward.
this soapworks wonders on itching in dandruff buildup. Wash your head like any other shampoo, lathers well, and the smell will what can I say it's coal tar soap. I first used this 45 years ago when my child had cradle cap And it worked wonderfully so I figured I'd give it a shot when my head started itching.
I've tried a lot of dandruff shampoos. Tea tree oil, selenium from various companies and other dandruff shampoos. This coal tar from Equate seems to be the best I've tried. I also see that it's recommended by Web MD and the Cleveland Clinic.
Works as well as brand name therapeutic shampoo for a better price point. Actually recommended by dermatologist. CAUTION - do not let it run into eyes. Really, really stings/burns.
I love this product. The only thing negative is that I ordered a 3 pack and all 3 were supposed to be the same size. I got 1 that was a smaller size. So 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Kind of sad that people cannot even get an order right 😩
The smell is terrible, but I gave the shampoo a try. My hair is left very clean, squeaky clean, and soft, but the strong smell made me dizzy after showering. It wasn't pleasant spending several hours smelling like fuel; my hair is long. Aside from that, I've read about the toxicity of tar as a carcinogen, and I'd rather return the product.
Not as good as T-Gel, but a close second. Not crazy about the smell, but T- Gel smells the same, so I just use a good smelling conditioner after, and I' all good. I do like the price, much cheaper than T-Gel.
I am unable to verify if it works or not. I have only used it once, it smells like pungent MOTH BALLS! As if a little old lady filled up a storage unit full of moth balls, and it remained unopened for 100 years. I can't get past the horrid smell. I rewashed my hair with scented shampoo/conditioner, added highly fragrant serums, and leave in conditioner. I also sprayed cologne all over my hair, and I can still slightly smell it after an entire day went by.
I actually ordered the extra strength formula but received this one for substitution and it's not strong enough it's almost like using head and shoulders honestly
