This product is exactly what it says it is. It's a corn and grain scratch, and my hens love it! It's really good for a tight budget, but it's not the best if you have high-quality egg layers who need a high-protein diet. They get this scratch along with high protein pellets. I will continue to buy this as a filler for my ladies!
I feed the critters in the winter. I buy sunflower seed for the hanging feeders, and this for the ground feeding birds and squirrels. If I buy cracked corn then a lot gets left behind, so this seems to work better. It's pretty inexpensive, so I don't mind feeding the squirrels which keeps them out of my bird feeders, too.
Of all the chicken feed products in the Vibrant Life brand, the scratch grains are a favorite of my chickens. The pellets and corn, specifically, are usually left over and I can tell they don't like it. When this product is mixed in to those, they eat it. The chickens seem happy to eat it every day, the birds look healthy with shiny, vibrant feathers, and the eggs the hens lay taste delicious. I highly recommend this product!
It is a good product at a great price. Apparently, this is a tasty product because when I throw it to my chickens, birds from 5 counties flock to my backyard. Even my dog loves to snack on it. My mother in law is visiting next week. I wonder if she will like it too…
We have ducks and chickens and this is a staple on our farm. I love the thicker texture of the grains as do our animals. The grain is very clean and of great quality and dried well so we haven't had to deal with mold or dust. Great buy... cheaper than I can buy local and a total bonus having it delivered. Animals do well on it and this has been our go to for many years now. Quality you can trust.
This bag of scratch grains is much better to feed wild birds than that nonsense Pennington Classic Wild Bird Feed that Walmart sells for more than twice the price. I wonder if Pennington has any clue what wild birds eat, their feed is that bad!!! We are on our second bag of the Scratch Grains in less than two weeks, We live on the outskirts of town and get all kinds of birds to eat at our feeders and patio...doves, pigeons, sparrows, cardinals, bluejays, finches, juncos, grackles, blackbirds, even a couple pair of mallard ducks, and squirrels! So, save your money and feed the birds and other animals these scratch grains.
I've been buying this feed for my chickens for a while now and they love it! Love that it has a combination of whole wheat, milo, as well as cracked/whole corn. I just supplement with the omega egg layer crumbles and ready for some very happy chicks both my chickens and me collecting my eggs everyday:)
shipping was not cool! bag was all taped up with mailing tape.It looks like it was in a box but fell apart so somebody just tapes it up after it ripped apart.but a tiny piece of box was still on the back taped on. but chicks live the chicken scratch
This was supposed to be scratch grains for chickens, but the pieces were far too large for the chickens to eat. It needed to be ground up some more. They left at least half of it on the ground. I soaked the grains for 2 - 3 days in the sun and they enjoyed it more, however there was a lot left on the ground. Even the wild birds didn't want it.
Bought 4 bags. But only 3 bags were delivered. I immediately spoke with customer service and they assured it would be delivered. The customer service representative said 3 bags came from one fulfillment location while the 4th would be coming from a different fulfillment location. I still haven't received my 4th bag of chicken feed. If I could give this experience a -10 I would!
