excellent product a real time saver
Taping up protective plastic sheeting before a painting or home construction project has never been easy or fun for me. I usually ended up with globs of tape and torn plastic sheeting just from trying to tape the edges to the wall or door frame. This 3M Hand-Masker Starter Pack is great! It makes the task of taping up the plastic sheeting much easier since it is accomplished in one step. Once you secure the first couple inches on your surface, you pull the Hand-Masker sideways and it rolls out the tape which is automatically attaching itself to the plastic as you glide along. Once you have covered your area, you cut the tape and plastic with the sharp cutting edge on the Hand-Masker; then you gently pull down the folded-up plastic down towards the floor. You can then tape the sides or bottom as needed. For me, it took some practice to make it go smoothly. I realized that when it came time to tear off the plastic, I had to do it quickly and a little forcefully. My first attempt didn't cut all the way through, which left a dangling bit of extra sheeting, but after I snipped that bit off, I was still able to unfold the plastic without having to do anything over again. I think this will really come in handy if I need to mask off multiple windows before painting (indoors or out). It will make this task so much faster than fumbling with tape and plastic separately. 3M provided me with the 3M Hand-Masker M3000 Starter Pack at no cost to try and evaluate. I had the pleasure of using the hand masker last month and it worked great. I painted my kitchen and living room and this product made my life so much easier. I didn't worry about paint getting on my carpet or kitchen hardwood flooring or on my new cabinets. Thanks for this wonderful product! It was easy to use. I bought one 22 years ago and have replaced the blade once excellent for masking quickly and efficiently, Efrain from Essential Painting, NY
I have been using the 3M Hand-Masker for many jobs. You need some masking, this is the go to tool. Fast and easy, and lightweight. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Lots of people claiming this is a waste of time or it doesn't work properly. It can be a challenge to get used to using, and it has its moments of frustration. However, it beats the alternative by a mile. On stilts I can plastic off an entire room to spray or texture ceilings in only a few minutes. You can mask all the windows on a small house in under an hour. Sometimes the tape slips off the roll or the blade doesn't cut just right, but I would rather use it every day with the little bit of hassle than constantly be masking off trying to hold plastic in one hand and tape in the other.
This is a great product, but I couldn't adjust the blade to match the tape size. I'm a fairly strong woman and even watched online instruction videos, but still couldn't adjust it. It would be an even better product if they could make it easier to adjust the blade. I received this product sample in exchange for my honest review. I received Free 3M Hand-Masker to evaluate from 3M. Takes a few tries to get set up. The wide tape really sticks to the plastic film. Works great on floors and baseboards.Use with caution has a very sharp blade. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I purchased this M3000 dispenser to help in a large DIY paint job. I was excited to use this tool after watching some YouTube videos of others using it. After getting it, I found that I also needed to get the blade. No where on the packaging I have for it did it mention the blade was sold separately. After looking at other packaging of the same, the others did have blade sold separately in big red marking. Hunting then began for the blade and blade attachment. I found several replacement blades sold, but not the blade attachment. What I thought would be a quick job painting turned out to be a longer job just to use what I thought would be a time-saver of a tool.
I was in a hurry and ran into the local home depot to pick up a hand masker for job going to in evening. I didnt pay complete attention seen masker and grabbed off shelf purchased and headed to my evening job. I removed the masker and to my surprise a cut off blade was not in the package. I had to spent 5 times the time while taping to use a blade knife to cut off 3M plastic/tape from dispenser... I CANNOT BELIEVE SOMEONE WOULD SELL A HALF TOOL WITH THE MOST IMPORTANT PART NEEDED AS AN ADDED EXTRA. I am amazed.... Raise the freaken price few dollars to complete the tool to save someone the aggravation.
