3M Leather and Vinyl Repair Kit

I used this product in the past and the repairs lasted for a couple years. The leftover product dried up, so I purchased a new kit. The jar of green colorant had opened in the package and made a bit of a mess, however, I didn't need that color and it didn't affect the adhesive or the colorant I did need.....it just made a mess, so I docked the review a star. I wasn't able to create an exact match to the color and texture of the seat I was repairing, but it was close enough for me. The repair did stop the tears from continuing to grow.

Not sure how to use at first. Instructions a little vague. But it worked ok after getting hang of it. Had a couple tears to repair in car seat. For amateur, thought it came out ok

I had a few fairly large splits and several smaller cracks along the stitching on the side of the driver's seat back. I really didn't think there was much hope but figured I didn't have much to lose. It isn't perfect but it is a great improvement. I was able to match the color pretty close but the repair adhesive is shiny compared to my seat finish. I had more success carefully using my curling iron to set the compound instead of the small tool they gave because I had a fairly large area I was working on. I wish they had a few more finish texture papers in the box. Be sure to keep the heat on for the length of time recommended no peeking or it just sticks to the paper.

This product by 3M did a very good job of fixing small cuts and tears on two of my leather couches. I was able to mix the colors to get an exact match to my Teal leather without much effort. Next, the mesh with heat applier didn't really work that well. I followed all the instructions. However when I just let the color 'paint' just dry over night, it worked fine without the heat and fabric patch. Good enough job for a $10 kit!

I had used a vinyl repair kit in the past that was of better quality and had much better results. I was expecting better results since I had in the past with a different kit. The hole however is gone and it appears to be holding with use. Just not very nice to look at. :(

The contents didn't match what was in the instructions. There was supposed to be a liquid adhesive included. Instead there was a powder substance. No instructions on what to mix the powder with to create an adhesive (if that was what they intended). I went to the 3-M site looking for help. Nothing in the FAQ's about this. I asked for help in the Contact Us section but they never responded. I ended up purchasing a separate fabric adhesive and only used the color paints provided.

I bought this because this is 3M. I usually like their products. This is a no go. The idea is cute and they give you everything, but it was just a big mess on my car seat. Glad I was able to wash off the paint. I am back where i started from. Well no, I am out the money I spent on this product. I guess I will just end up putting a piece of matching tape on my car seat.

I have used other, similarly priced leather repair kits with great success. We bought this because it had the color I needed. It was much more involved to use, and the repair lasted less than a week.

I read and followed the directions. The adhesive had the consistancy of a thick paste and was difficult to apply to the tear in my leather. I let it dry for 4 hours like the directions said. The color I needed was a chocolate brown and was easy to make. The hardest part for me was getting the heat transfer tool hot enough from my iron, and then rolling it over the paper to get the brown adhesive to dry in the tear. I became frustrated with the time involved. I let it air dry for about 5 days, applying hot air from hair dryer 2 to 3 times a day. It finally got dry enough I could put the cusion back on the couch without worrying that it might get worse. It seems like 3M could come up with a better way to get the adhesive to dry.

I applied this leather repair paste and let it dry. After sanding, the repaired area started peeling off. I followed the instructions carefully, but the result was disappointing.
