I was so excited to see these jars at a sale price. I love to fill them with homemade toffee at Christmas time! I was nervous about how well the glass would be packed and shipped, but Walmart comes through with flying colors. Each glass jar was carefully wrapped multiple times with a honeycomb paper that protected it from getting broken. The effort put into getting it safely to my door makes me feel like my order was as important to Walmart as it was to me.
we used this jar after cutting out a hole in the middle of the lid with a hole saw and then we used it to replace the globe on our yard light. it's sealed good and looked really nice. was a lot cheaper to use it this way then to buy another complete replacement globe for the yard lamp.
I have ordered these before. They are the perfect size for food storage in my pantry. They are durable and sturdy. They go in the dishwasher great. They look great on the counter as canisters too. Love them. I'm ordering more as I get my pantry organized. Great for freezer too.
Just a great size jar that I can use for many things! Storing certain food items in plastic containers can sometimes leave behind odors so for those I prefer glass especially for storing sweets. I often have ant problems so I also prefer the tight metal screw on caps so this checks all of the boxes. Nice thick glass as well at a great price!
I was looking for a sturdy 2-quart glass jar for pantry storage, and this one exceeded expectations. The thick glass feels durable, and the lid seals tightly without being hard to open. It's just the right size for things like flour, sugar, pasta, or even snacks. I've tried other brands, but this one stands out for both quality and price. No weird smells, no flimsy part, just a solid, reliable jar that does its job really well. Will definitely be buying more.
Have my entire pantry storage in glass - for so many reasons. These have a nice wide opening making it easy to fill and remove items. Unfortunate that the metal caps have a paper liner, which adds to the air-tight ability of the product, that eventually needs to be be thrown away. It also makes it harder to clean. I have many of these. And, I find it unusual that some of the caps don't actually tighten. Instead, they just spin to a point, then revert back to being loose. In the end, they are useful and affordable.
Nice jar except for the lid and gasket. The gasket is coated on one side only. It probably won't last long. The lid tightens then loosens. You CANNOT lift this out of the fridge or cupboard by the lid. If you do, the jar is going to fall from the lid and make a huge mess. You must handle the filled jar with both hands. The lid tightens just enough. If you tighten until slight resistance you're good. Go past slight resistance thinking you're snugging it down? Nope, it goes loose and requires tightening again. With it being like this I don't know how well it will keep odors out or in. I bought it for pickled eggs. I don't want the fridge smelling like vinegar and whatever else I spice them with.
I would recommend these jars but don't order online. Go to the store to examine the jars. Look the jars over carefully looking for obvious flaws in the glass. I bought a bundle of four online. When I received the 4 jars they were not cracked or broken . Delivered from a local WalMart 30 min. Away. The problems with the lids I solved. On each glass jar there is a seam on the screw cap ridge which has tiny pieces of rough points sticking up. These pieces keep the lid from screwing on tight. I used a piece of medium rough sandpaper to smooth the points down. It doesn't take long to remove the bumps. They are tiny. All 4 jars have tightened down lids now. ONE of my jars had areas with flawed impressions in the glass which can be seen clearly. I can use it but is a weakness in the glass and I will use it for some I don't handle often. May keep cotton balls in the flawed jar.
Firstly, upon arrival one of them had a small dead spider inside it, another had a small shard of glass chipped off on the inside. Secondly, the lids do not seal tight! you can just keep twisting them 'on' and they won't tighten. If you need something air tight I would not recommend. they are cute and thick glass though.
It was a ship order-4 glass jars arrived in a plastic bag with some Walmart bags in there, but not wrapped or anything. After I took all the codes off and washed them and was putting them all together I noticed that some of the covers don't even stay tight they just spin and chips out of the mouth of the jars. I'm very disappointed. I always buy these but from another store maybe that store has better better quality? I'm sure I can't return without the UPC labels?
