A Nightmare on Elm Street - Theatrical & Uncut (Limited Edition Steelbook) [UHD]

This i is one of my all time favorite horror movies growing up in the 80's so i had to definitely pick it up on 4K Steelbook. A must have digitally restored and remastered.

It is hard to believe this movie is 40 years old. I had completely forgotten this movie featured a very young Johnny Depp. If you are unfamiliar with the story, it is about a group of suburban teenagers who are being hunted in their dreams by a mysterious person named Freddy Kreuger. They band together to try to take him out before he can get them. Let me just say, if you are a fan of this movie, it is definitely worth picking up this new 4K version of the film. As far as the picture goes, it looks wonderful in 4K HDR. On an OLED TV, the contrast between light and dark sections of the screen is really impressive. There are several parts of the movie with fire. It looks bright, lifelike, and natural. The picture is bright, crisp, clear and the entire movie looks like it was filmed much more recently than 1984. I viewed the film using the new Dolby Atmos remastered audio track. They clearly spent a lot of time on this and the results are very impressive. You get extensive use of surround and height channels with all sorts of environmental effects, crickets chirping, music, and creepy sound effects. More than any recent movie I can remember, this one makes you feel like you are in the middle of the action. I was really caught off guard with how good it sounded and how enveloping it was. That being said, your subwoofer can take a break because there are almost no scenes with heavy bass. But that is fitting for the movie as there isn't much going on that would make tons of bass sound natural. If you are going to spend the money to own this movie, you need to get the 4K steelbook, if you can find it. I pre-ordered it several months before release, and even with that it was delayed several weeks after release date before it arrived. The good news is they do seem to be getting more stock and catching up on the orders. The steelbook itself is very well done. It has an overall matte black finish and looks like an old-school VHS tape box with very 3D looking Freddy claw cuts on the front. The back features more of the same with Freddy looking out through a large, raggedly cut opening that also has a 3D look to it. With this steelbook, you will get a single 4K UHD disc (no Blu-Ray or special feature discs). That disc comes with the theatrical and uncut versions of the film. You will also get a Digital Copy redeemable through Movies Anywhere for the 4K version of the film. I bought this directly from Walmart and am happy to report that it arrived in perfect condition on the first attempt. I am very thankful for that given the supply issues. If you are a horror movie fan and don't have this movie, this is the perfect chance to get it looking and sounding its best. If you have the DVD or Blu-Ray, it is definitely worth the upgrade if you have or will have a 4K TV anytime soon. Just act quickly before it is gone for good.

All time classic now remastered! The audio is great with this release and if you have rear speakers, it will be a blast. The picture is so amazing compared to the film's resolution during the time of release. Glad this generation will experience Freddy at his full potential!

The movie arrived in excellent condition without any damage to the case. I will say walmarts delay in preorder shipping is the most discouraging.

The steelbook was delayed at Walmart (like everywhere else) but I did not cancel the order and it arrived in pristine condition a week later.

So stoked to finally own this movie in 4K. The Steelbook is beautiful and arrived safe in a box from Walmart.
