I got three from Walmart in January 2026, when other stores that use to carry them, stopped selling. and the only alternative available was the bigger, 3x more expensive bug a salt, which in my opinion is too expensive. I also got a pack of cheap red dot lasers to fit inside the guns for precise aiming. The little lasers run on 3 to 5 Volts and a couple of milliamps, which is perfect for a small lithium rechargeable battery. I will be taking the item apart and attach inside a small magnet to the trigger lever with a corresponding reed switch. That way, the laser will turn on every time I slightly pull the trigger.
This thing is great! It gets the job done at a fraction of the price of the Bug-a-salt which I was gifted many years ago but it eventually broke and I really wanted to replace it because I love to shoot wasps with it. It is a hobby of mine. It works just as well as the name brand. It’s a little smaller and doesn’t have a sight on it but when you get the hang of it you will be shooting wasps left and right. It’s a great product at a great price
So, far works great. Smoked a medium to large fly with one shot. Impressed bybthe performance since it is literally a 1/4 of the price of the original Bug A Salt blaster. Am I concerned about longevity and how the pump etc perform over time? Absolutely, i do not have the data for long-term reliability on this blaster. I am interested to see and i would love to update the review accordingly if reliability issues due arise. However, for now, works great. Did exactly what it is advertised to do. Very easy to use. SO FAR, job well done at a fraction of the cost. Makes fly/bug hunting a little entertaining. Theyre a nuisance and i dont want those in my dwelling, so this makes it slightly enjoyable when it occurs. For now, i recommend... REMINDER, THIS IS NOT A KIDS TOY without the proper training and the etiquette must be strictly adhered to. Buy it...happy hunting.
After years of using another brand, it was time for a replacement. Our previous one had gotten wet from rain, sat in extreme Texas summer heat %26 would no longer work. I didn't want to spend $30 on one of these salt shooters so I searched the "next best brand". I have to say, I am highly pleased with this product %26 will not overpay for the other brand again. It doesn't require batteries, the power level is top tier %26 has an impressive spray range! Safe for kids to use (refer to appropriate age on product packaging/instruction pamphlet). Add this to your summer must have items!
I ordered this online and received the Bug Slayer 2.0 which has more power and larger salt capacity than the original Bug Slayer. It works great. So far, I've used it to take out a fly and two camel crickets that invaded my home. It doesn't unalive them on the first shot, but it more than just stuns them. It lacks an aiming sight, but you don't really need one. It has a wide enough salt spray that precision aiming is not necessary. I took out the fly on the first shot just by pointing at it without really aiming. Anyway, this Bug Slayer is way cheaper than the Bug a Salt and works just as good and is just as much fun. I would recommend it.
I bought this for my husband for Father's Day. He had already practiced with the one his grandpa has and absolutely loves it. Keeps him entertained for quite a good while!
This is a great time waster while you are cooking outdoors. While your food is cooking you can go at all the flies that like to show up. It woks great and gets the job done getting rid of the flies. This makes a great gift for the people that like to cook outside. It woks inside too but I prefer not to have salt all over the kitchen floor.
I was excited to receive this Bug Slayer salt blaster. No chemicals and a fast, effective shot is what I thought would happen. I loaded the blaster with salt and quickly used it on a house fly. The first attempt to shoot it was faulty because even when I aimed, the salt descended higher than it should have. I kept trying about 10 times before finally shooting the fly which didn’t die until the second shot. Also, I had to keep dislodging the safety switch with every shot which is very annoying when trying to kill a house fly. More trial and testing should have been done with this one.
Sorry, but l'm not a big fan of this. It is easy to fill with a large container of table salt using the pour spout. The attached lid keeps it from spilling. The gun doesn't jam while using, but it tasts a lot of effort to cock and you have to take the safety off for each and every shot. However without a site, l can't aim accurately and l don't seem to hit anything unless l'm a foot away from my target. Will a fly let me get this close? It's winter and l am insect free here so l don't know. For the time being l am practicing on hitting the wind chime elements hanging on my porch.
Basically it works by pumping the air soft mechanism, but it's so weak that the pellets barely go anywhere and then a massive stream of salt just kinda pours out the end. Since the shooting is weak, there is no real way to aim either. You're better throwing salt pellets with your bare hands.
