AirTV 2 - Digital multimedia receiver black

Connected my antenna to the AirPlay, plugged it into my router (there is an option for wireless connection) opened my Sling TV app, and now every local channel I receive can be viewed through my Sling account. I also connected a hard drive to the AirPlay which allows me to pause, and record any of my local stations and watch anywhere through Sling.

Originally got one of these free five years back when I switched to Sling. That one recently failed, so bought this as a replacement. Seems a little overpriced but works just like my old did during its original service years. Overall happy.

I had been looking for OTA reorder for my recording of my local channels and used to have a tablo. But I continued to have problem with it not connecting and bad reception even when the antenna was showing clear reception. So I had to try to get newer tablo. The new one I had the same problem, so had to return and tried Hdhomerun. I also ran into the same problem with reception. I forgot about AirTV until i was looking for what else could record OTA. Then I remember about this device on an advertisement. Since I had Sling I remembered that this device worked well in the past and so I ordered a new one. Just as expected It worked amazingly! Now this time i did use the ethernet instead of Wifi but it is working great! And the local channels are all clear on two tv's. If you have sling I recommend getting AirTv cause it is everything you will need for a recorder. I did have to buy an external storage but that is nothing in comparison to having a great recorder. tablo and hdhomerun is trash, but you may have no choice if you don't have Sling. but if you do have Sling you wont be dissappointed if you get AirTv

the price was great the item was great unfortunately my area has a hard time getting digital antenna so I'm going to have to return it but the item was exactly what it's supposed to be easy installation and a great price

The item can be used to receive and record over-the-air channels. It does not come with an antenna; my original antenna wasn't sufficient to maintain a signal so I replaced it with an onn antenna from Walmart. That got me a stable signal. That setup was pretty straightforward, but the next part is where the trouble happened. To record local channels, you have to add a hard drive. I tried 3 separate hard drives, and nothing worked. I had an external drive that couldn't be read unless I unplugged the power to it - once unplugged, the drive could not be read but could be identified. This device has a short list of approved hard drives which may prevent you from recording OTA channels. If you are not interested in recording local channels, I can say that this device works fine either by ethernet connection and remotely via wireless (still had good quality picture). As a side note, I wanted to use this with Sling TV. It was easy to incorporate with their app.

If you are not interested in being able to record and just want better viewing than using using antenna it is just fine. If you want to attach an external drive and you order one they recommend,i.e., Seagate, you need to be a technical engineer. They cannot not tell you size of adapter needed to attach to airtv and they don't seem to know the size usb cable you need. If I ever figure it out I will post for people to see but so far not Walmart store or Best Buy know even when you carry everything for them to see at Best Buy. Out of date ports it seems if that is possible. Not a C and Seagate says a 2 but that is just speed. Out of luck so may return the drive

Device would not connect through wifi had to use ethernet cable. Playback of recordings keeps freezing up when fast forward is used. Can't connect external usb drive.

So frustrated, did not install but the airtv company only has an AI robot trying to help until you continue to request to speak to someone but then you are texting them. This took about an 45 minute process and it still didn't work. Won't be using this device or Sling tv anymore.

never recieved item. second shipping issue in a row, last sent me the wrong item and i had to go to the store. time to switch to amazon, more reliable

Quite possibly the worst piece of tech i have ever used. Spent hours to try to get the dumb app to connect to the airtv. Finally got it connected, scanned and found 13 channels. However none of the channels would work, multiple error codes. Spent time on forums trying to resolve issues. I've never been more infuriated by a single piece of hardware in my life. Do Not Buy!
