This is a BAIT and cannot be watered in! Also, this is VERY IMPORTANT: you CANNOT keep this product for too long once it's opened! It will go rancid and the ants WON'T EAT IT! Plan on buying it and using the entire container within a month, but no longer than that once the seal is broken! Use it when the weather is warm and dry (above 80 degrees F) when the workers are actively foraging. It's great for both individual mound treatments or broadcasting. I even apply a small amount next to foraging trails and they'll pick it up. Give it about 2 weeks and their numbers will diminish as they die off (workers need to be replaced about every 30 days.) You can actually go through the mound after a couple of weeks and find the bait granules still in the mound once they are dead. Don't bother the mounds when you apply it; trust me, they'll find the granules and pick them up! Safety: it's still an insecticide! It's a stomach poison that can only affect people or animals if they EAT IT. Don't leave big piles around curious dogs that might try to lap it up. Broadcasting is quite safe around pets because they cannot pick it up from the lawn. I've used it for YEARS and never had any issues. Cats seem to ignore it completely. This was my %231 go to for imported fire ants and I still use it at my home. It's very easy to use, but is NOT labeled for indoor use. Use another product inside if you're having an indoor issue.
I've tried Spectracide granules and had poor results so then I tried the Amdro and it appears to be working mostly fine.
Works great on fire ant mounds. Dead by next day. Used for years in TX and now in FL. Simple to use. Sprinkle a couple of tablespoons around mound. No need to stir or water in.
This works great to kill the mound within 3 days, just a sprinkle on top of the mound.
Been using Amdro for years and it has always worked as described. Very effective.
This worked on those nasty red ants. They were all over my grandson's swing set and he and I got bitten. You don't need much. This did the job, not one red ants in sight for weeks. I will use again as preventative. Very happy with results!
The best product did fire ants.
The ants were particularly BAD this year. I tried everything from boiling water to every product available to me. Finally, good old Amdro! The trick is to only put it around the mound(1 Tablespoon for larger mounds). If you put it on the mound it just makes them move. Only the giant ones tried to regroup and I repeated the process and got them too. So for now, the yard is fireant free. :)
The Amdro fire ant bait is a great product . First, this treatment comes in a plastic, easy to store container, with a twist on cap. Second, not like other treatments, it is also light weight so it is easy to move around. It is also easy to use. Just sprinkle in the area where you have the ant hills by using specific measurements or if the hill is bigger, use by the handful. It also states on the package that for better results, use when ants are active. What I really like about this is that you don't have to spray with water. I have used other products and it says for best result wet treated area. I would recommend to a friend.
the ants did not die. some mounds rebuilt, some moved over. I followed all instructions
