You know those old classic custard cups made of microwaveable glass? Well, these do one better! In addition to being fridge, freezer, oven, microwave and dishwasher safe (except the lids -- no oven, microwave or dishwasher for those), these cups have a convenient lid that makes them perfect for storage. Our granddaughter makes custard in these (in the oven! without lids, of course) and keeps the individual servings in the fridge for later eating, because that way the custard doesn't dry out and is still appetizing days later -- no waxed paper or other covering to slide off by mistake and leave that delicious food exposed. She also makes chicken pot pies in advance (oven!), freezes them in these, and adds a refrigerated biscuit as a pie crust when microwaving them to eat. I've had the unloaded ones for several decades and the ones with lids for at least 2 decades. It takes a little practice to put the lid on, but once you get the hang of it, they just slip right on and off with ease. Great for meal prep, too -- separate those eggs for adding to recipes, assemble herbs and spices in advance, etc. Also good for keeping tract of elastics, hair clips or what have you. They're small (6 oz) but mighty. Indispensable!
I like the size and look of the cups. I wish the lid had a better fit or a watertight seal but I was buying to replace other glass custard cups that broke and those had no lid so these are an upgrade! It's nice to be able to pre make yogurt cups with a unsweetened yogurt, and frozen berries for my kids. I also use them to pack condiments in my husbands lunch.
These are EXACTLY what I've been looking for. They arrived as scheduled, one was chipped and when I called customer service, they refunded to me the cost of that single chipped custard cup.
great design and quality! perfect for my creme brulee! shout out to all who packaged the item..absolutely great!! box within a box with dividers! not one crack or chip on the cups! absolutely wonderful!
the lids are all loose on the containers. they work ok for my application since I can stack them, which makes the seal tighter.. but if your item is sensitive to oxygen, I do not recommend you use these. I'm using for yogurt for my kids, and its not caused issues so far.
A little disappointed in these, due to the lids they came with. I've always had great luck with Anchor Hocking glassware and these little bowls are fabulous but the plastic lids they came with are pretty crappy. They don't snap on or securely seal in any way. I've had two lives fall off in the refrigerator just from getting bumped by other food. Really expected a lid that would snap and seal on the bowl, these lids are almost useless. Other than the problem with the lids the bowls are fine and it's not worth the hassle to return them, I guess I can use tape or something if I really need the lid to stay on. 😬
I overall like this product and would have gave it more statrs if 2 of the ramequins hadn't been chipped. The box was intact but still had broken edges on 2 of them. Not all of the glass pieces were found inside which makes me think they were chipped during manufacturing or packing. If these were sold in my local store, I would have exchanged them but they are not.
The lids don't seal as tight as I would like. Also, the dish broke in the microwave. I now know that the dish cannot be taken from fridge and put in the microwave for reheating, especially when only half full. I guess I'll let the food come to room temperature first. But, I'm a little scared to try again.
The lids are useless. They do not fit tightly at all. The glass bowls are ok, one was chipped out of 8. I'll use as food prep bowls but they are useless for storage.
The lids don't fit. They don't seal. They just sit on top. I've had a set if these before and the lids fit snugly. These are only good for keeping out dust. The cups themselves are fine. Highly disappointed.
