Ba da ba ba ba, I'm LOVIN' IT!

Kristoff Motta January 30, 2024

Arguably, the best value and bang for my buck that I've ever spent on any motherboard in my entire lifetime of building personal computers, roughly 30 years. The features that this board has versus its cost; well, let me just say that it all adds up to a positive feeling of ownership for the money I spent and what I actually got out of it. I run this build with 64gigs of Dominator RAM, a Nvidia 3080 GPU, and a 12th gen i7... ZERO complaints here. I built this computer back in early 2022 and it is still highly competitive.

Thrilled with my purchase

Blokh3d February 28, 2023

Been a long time since I built a new gaming computer, several weeks of shopping always brought me back to this one paired with 12th gen i7 and m.2 hard drives.... Couldn't be happier with the end result. I've bought different Asus products over the years and I'm always happy and impressed with their products.

A powerful and feature-rich motherboard

Linbaobao February 17, 2026

The powerful motherboard comes with rich and practical software. The only drawback is that when Chinese is selected in the bios, only half of the language is in Chinese. I have been using ASUS motherboards since the 1990s, hoping to make up for this sole deficiency.

Great motherboard

Anonymous February 13, 2025

So far the motherboard is great. However, I can't seem to figure out how to get the onboard WIFI to work. The instruction manual was not very clear on such things.

Works well, nicely done bios, lots of ports, and it looks nice.

BIOS confusion.

Maple1234 February 5, 2023

Bought this for an i5 13600K. Only 4 stars because I'm disappointed by the confusion around BIOS flashing to support the new CPU. ASUS, you need to clearly explain that a 12th gen CPU is needed to flash for 13th gen support on this board.

Great board for mid-level build.

Chris Urbane January 15, 2023

Great board for a mid-level build. Had some issues with the bios not recognizing usb keyboards after a failed post. Welp, no PS2 ports for keyboard and who has one of those anyways. However switching to a different keyboard allowed us to post the bios because it got stuck on the preboot screen. I take one star off for that because it has happened more then once. The kid I built the machine for is happy and even after a power outage it took him to that screen after it failed to post. However it did recognize his keyboard and he was able to boot back to windows. Not sure what the issue is with this board, and not recognizing certain keyboards after post. I contacted Asus and they told me to send the board in, luckily I figured it out and did not have to send a board in for weeks delaying that build. I have an Asus board in my PC and have been using their boards for many, many years and will most likely continue to do so.

Prime Z690-A

Overall a great motherboard, gives a nice overclock to an air cooled system, and is in my opinion one of the best looking motherboards made, the rgb is tasteful and not over the top, my only complaints are, the cpu fan header locations ,on the edge of the motherboard and the fact this can not be changed, and fan headers in the middle of the board that are labeled not the cpu? Nor can they be switched to be cpu? It's odd, also if you change a fan setting in the bios, armory crate will no longer function, and will ask you to plug fans in? And you must uninstall armory crate, and AI suit 3, then reinstall them, I think this is what was triggering this, it has remained stable if I do not touch fans in the bios. I have ran the board in windows 10 pro, and windows 11 pro. Both stable , AI overclocking and AI fans seem to work well, in armory crate, if you don't mess with them in the bios. my system on air runs about 30c, and hot spot on gpu around 47c gaming , a strix 3070ti, overall happy with the board, have all 4 mvme drives filled, all fan headers filled, but did stick with just two sticks of ddr5. I do wish WiFi and Bluetooth were on the motherboard, but that's pretty easy to work around. With a usb plug in, or a card. A solid 4!
