My 7 years old daughter prefers to wear thick socks with this type of shin guard. To wear them she puts the shin guard on first, connecting the shin guard's strap around her calf is not necessary, as they have a built-in holder. After the shin guard is in place, she pulls her sock over the shin guard so that the entire unit is covered by her sock. Good buy, definitely recommend.
These shin guards are great for kids. We have had so many different kinds, but I love these because the kids can put them on themselves- and they are easy to do. When wearing soccer socks, my kids were able to put them on the correct legs because it was easy to see which one is for each foot (one side is higher). The socks could fold over the shine guards and I was so happy that I did not have to worry that they would be sliding around because of the strap that wraps around the top, as well as the part that goes on the foot and goes over the arch and is perfectly stretchy yet stable. In fact, my kids were playing some version of soccer, and the one wearing these shin guards told me that it didn't even hurt when the ball went straight to his shin because his shin was truly protected. These shin guards are basic shaken guards that are soft and do not hurt when applied directly to the skin. They did not cause chafing of any kind, are lightweight, easy for kids to apply by themselves, and definitely effective for protection of the shins when the ball comes.
These are easy to put on and seem real solid. These should do a good job protecting my little guy. I like that they aren't overly bulky, which makes it easier to put socks over top of them. It has a strap to go around the foot that will help keep them in place and an elastic cuff that goes around the ankle. The strap that goes near the top of the calf has velcro for easy taking off and putting on. Good product!
These worked out well. We've used them for a few weeks and they're great. I got them on sale so that was a plus!
The purpose smaller than I assumed
These shinguards are good for young kids. They fit well. And they are sturdy. I wouldn't suggest it for kids too much older then 4 or 5. They were pretty tight on my 3 year old. Would recommend.
Athletic Works Soccer Shinguards are sturdy and easy for my child to put on. My son said they felt comfortable and it didn't hurt a bit when his brother kicked him. His only complaint was that the seem where the velcro wrapped around his leg was irritating. With tall thick socks on he said it felt a little better though for him to hold up in those for an hour in a game, I may need to make some modifications to make the raised seam more comfortable. The other concern I have is the size. They are mediums and I originally intended these for my 10 yr old however they were way too small for him, but fortunately the shinguards fit my six year old just fine. I can't imagine how small a small must be.... maybe for 4 yr olds?
It provides good ankle support. The shape of the shins guards is a little flat it doesn't have as much of a curve to naturally fit the shape of the leg like other shin guards that my daughter has used. Over all it's a good extra pair to have.
They will work for the potential light impact I need them for, but they look extremely cheap. I wouldn't put these on an older kid and trust them to work well.
They never arrived. even in the distance of picture, you can still zoom in. You can see nothing from Walmart or Fed Ex is to be found!
