AT&T 1740 Digital Answering System, Single Unit, Tapeless 60 Min Record Time, Message Guard Memory, Audible Message Alert, Remote Access

This is a relatively old system, but simple and reliable. And easy to set up. We wanted to replace what we now have after trying an answering system with a cordless phone that we found hard to set up. The Walmart store near us did not have the AT%26T 1740 Digital Answering System; we are glad that we could order it online.

Great! Easy to install and easy to set up! It took less than 10 minutes. This AT %26 T answering machine is perfect for any landline phone. Fantastic machine to deal with spam calls or unwanted telemarketers. This machine was bought to give reprieve to a SENIOR who was receiving chronic badgering phone calls at a rate of over 10 a day continuously. Peace of mind as well as safety from spammers allowing you to screen unwanted calls.

Took less than 5 (FIVE) minutes to set the date/time/year and plug in!! It replaces the one I prior, which quit after 20 years!! I am ecstatic!! AWESOME machine!!! Thank you!!!

I am an older person who sucks at using electronics, so when I managed to replace my old answering machine all by myself, I am thinking now of myself as a genius :) Seriously, easy to install, easy to use, clear instructions in the manual that comes in the box with the machine, and I like that I can call from another phone, dial in the code, and hear if I have any messages, and if yes, read them.

It's truly plug&play. Plugged it in for an older friend & ended not having to do much. Pre-set defaults are good for most persons. The large Play button is great - not hard to see & press when a message is waiting. The only negative is there's no way to record a personal greeting.

I bought this answering machine as a replacement for an old version of the same machine I owned that finally quit working after many years. It was surprisingly affordable and has all the features and more as the old one. I especially like the incoming call option choice that announces the phone number of the caller. Another feature I like is that it informs unknown callers their calls are not accepted and it will not allow them to leave a message and then hangs up on them! - touche!!!

This is perfect for such a cheap item. I just plugged the cord into the phone outlet and it was so simple to set up. When you turn the answer machine on for the first time it walks you through how to do everything. It is all digital so there is no tape or rewinding required. Very good product.

I like my new digital answering system. It comes pre-set at a certain volume that is pretty loud, is a little complicated to learn how to use on the first try but has a lot of features to set. Once it is set though it works ok. The cords, one for the power adapter and one for the phone jack are way too short, I have a 25 foot cord on my phone just to get it over to my desk and have to use extension cords to reach the answering machine, then I can plug in my phone to the answering machine and the answering machine in to where I plugged my phone in and the power adapter in to the extension cord. OH well. It's real inexpensive and does a good job of recording messages and getting rid of unwanted callers. I have never had an answering machine before but I am pleased with this first one of mine.

Easy to set up , it is small and does not take up a lot of space. I just wished it came in different colors :).

This system is excellent if you need basic voice messaging; excellent value for the price I paid ($12,) has all common features. Audio quality is fair to good; I initially thought audio quality was poor to fair but subsequently realized the poor audio of the first couple of calls I received was probably due to the caller's cell phones. Instructions were fairly straight forward, pretty simple if you have used an answer machine before. The unit is small in size so space is not an issue. My previous unit came with a stand that allowed it to be situated vertically, this unit does not have that so depending on the height that you place the unit, you might not be able to see whether the message light is flashing; but that is a very minor consideration.
