Babylon 5: The Complete Series (Blu-ray)

The set arrived in perfect condition. All 21 discs work flawlessly. This is one of the main reasons I always order these large sets from Walmart. Their product always arrives in functional condition.

I've yet to open the package but the way it came is just what I was hoping for.

First off, this series is an all time favorite of mine and the fact that it is on blu ray is just remarkable. Now, I must really love it since this is actually the second time I have purchased this (as a back up). This format allows seeing the series in the best possible picture and sound available. I was at first perturbed that it was in 4:3 aspect ration after watching it so many times in a widescreen format on dvd. I have since learned that the aspect ratio was necessary to preserve the special effects and the dvd versions were actually cropped and not a true widescreen. This series probably changed the approach many television series take in having a planned overall story arc as opposed to episodic serialist approach which is what most shows do. For me, with Walmart offering it a reduced rate for a sale, this was a great opportunity. This show is remarkable in withstanding mulitple viewings in providing entertainment and the blu ray version is the best available.

Arrived on time as promised. Glad to have entire series in one set.

Was as expected and well packaged and played as well.

Having the whole series in one place is great. This is the remastered version originally released in 2020 on HBO Max. No issues with the discs, but the case is pretty brutal - getting the discs out without feeling like they'll snap requires quite a bit of care.

The packaging of the disks is poor, they don't stay attached. There are no commentaries as in the original packaging nor are there any previews of episodes. There is no commentaries on the making of the Blu-ray edition and how they compare with the 90's episodes. Overall the Blu-ray edition seems to have been rushed, not smartly crafted and presented. The episodes themselves are better in Blu-ray but it could have been so much more.

I loved this series back when first broadcast, I was ecstatic when I found it was released in bluray. The only reason for 4 stars is I've had some issues with the blurays themselves, plus the disc case is a joke. No scratches or defects I can see with them but I've had a few where the bluray player freezes or skips, I've read in on-line forums of others experiencing the same. Also, on a few episodes there is an audio/video sync issue, it comes and goes with a single episode. That's also common for this set. The case itself has the discs on 'flip pages', which is OK in itself but the clamping plastic in the center spindle is horrid. It's tough removing the discs from the spindle and replacing them. My advice is set aside the time before ordering so that you can go through the entire set to look for issues with the discs and considering keeping the discs in a set of cases that aren't the abomination Warner Home Video shipped these in.

the package was damaged

You guys have no idea how to pack this set for shipping. Both copies I received were damaged because they were not protected. I tried to tell you guys the problem before you shipped my second copy, but nobody listened and it was packaged exactly the same way as the other one I received. No surprise - It was damaged in the exact same way. General incompetence demonstrated by Walmart. Will probably never order from you guys again. So frustrating.
