I'm a pickler I do over 1000 jars a year I do not substitute ball jars for canning ever. Seal, reliability and fit 🥒🥒 always work.

Always use BALL canning lids
Learned the hard way to only buy namebrand lids like Ball canning lids, they always seal and hold for years. This fall was canning salsa, didn't have any namebrand lids used an offbrand bulk box, every one of the jars didn't see properly. I had to re-process ruining the salsa. Look at my photos you'll see a stack of 12 generic cheap lids and a stack of 12 BALL brand lids. Notice the BALL lids are taller, which means they have more sealer %26 better quality. Home Canning is hard work and rewarding, but don't skimp on supplies always use BALL canning lids to ensure appropriate seal..

my dad made sooo much tomato sauce .these are really a go-to for us . the seal is great none have leaked very reliable and they fit great too

Misleading “Lids”
The project is clickbait and misleading. I didn't go as far as to think that I was getting a complete jar because with as many images of them, one could also presume this, but excuse me for thinking that a “lid” was the complete upper portion, the portion that excludes the jar. That circular framed portion in my mind, is part of the lid. Well, apparently not to Ball. All you get is replacements for the actual circle that covers the jar and not the rim around it. I get that this portion actually covers the jar but to me this is incomplete and falsely advertised. I don't really see the value in this.
