My new favorite way to store leftovers in my fridge. Wide mouth jars have an opening large enough to fit my hand through for when I'm washing dishes. These plastic lids don't rust or come apart when you open the jar. Two quart (64oz) jars are perfect.
Fits perfect on my ½ gallon Ball canning jars, although I would not use these for high-temp canning. I am using them for pickeled eggs in the fridge. I flip the jars each day and I am into day 4, so mine have spent at least 48 hrs upside down in the fridge without a drop of a leak. I would also use these lids for storage of dry goods like beans, lintils, rice, oatmeal, etc.
They're so much smoother than the metal lids and rings. So for frequent use they're way more agreeable. They're easy on the hand, since the edges are more comfortable for gripping. They're truly leak proof, hold up to daily use, they make the jars better stackable, and they're sleekly attractive. I haven't found a down side. All my storage jars have these lids now. The photo is of our hot cocoa bar. All our “add ins” were in jars with these lids. Daily use by kids no less and they're still going strong.
These Ball wide mouth mason jar lids are exactly what I was hoping for. They fit perfectly on all my mason jars with no issues at all, and the seal is tight enough that I've never had a leak—even when storing liquids or tossing a jar in a bag. What I really appreciate is that there's no separate gasket to deal with. It's a simple, one-piece design that just works. I use them regularly for meal prep and storage, and they've held up great with repeated use and cleaning. If you're looking for a reliable, hassle-free lid upgrade for your mason jars, these are a fantastic choice.
These lids are fantastic! Fit perfectly and completely leak proof, very convenient for using the jar as a storage container for unused food.
These lids work very well. I have purchased other lids online which leaked, even with insert seals. The Ball lids were a bit pricey, but worth the extra few cents to ensure a truly leakproof seal.Tru
what I did not expect with this product is that it wouldn't fit other mason jars besides the ball brand wide mouth. the only mason jars that this product fits is the ball brand. the mason jars that I was looking to cap they didn't fit not one not one wide mouth non ball brand mason jar. I am grateful that I had ball brand jars 64 Oz jars that only had the drinkable tops these lids fit perfect. I was grateful instead of discouraged for the purchase. they appear to be airtight and sealed nicely on my 64 Oz Ball mason jars.
Used for years and keep buying more, but recently noticed plastic was shredding from grooves and that is a concern. Not sure if it's something I did, so am wondering if anyone else has seen this? The whole point was to have LESS plastic in food as possible!
This review is for Ball One-Piece Leak-Proof Wide Mouth Storage Lid, Plastic: I was expecting a better product from the Ball Company'. I am disappointed. The lid is a Polypropylene plastic lid. There is a groove that the top edge of the jar fits into. There are no additional seals like a silicone ring or piece that the top edge of the glass jar compresses to for a watertight seal. I added water to the har and put on the lid and inverted the jar. Guess what happened. IT LEAKED. I suspect the others in the box will leak too. I cannot consider the product a good value.
I like the color but they aren't even close to being leak-proof. Luckily, I didn't trust the leak-proof claim and put this jar of pickled beets for a friend in a sealed bag.
