I bought this brush for a non cooking reason. I have a bad back and I got this brush to use to wash baseboards in my house. It works fine for cleaning my baseboards. My only complaint would be that I wish the "bristles" were a little heavier.

I am not using them for a BBQ. I've got a rash on my side and use them to put the ointment on. Which it's working fine. Use the other one to wash the area. I cannot reach with my hand.

I don't barbecue, but I can certainly see the benefits of using one of these basting brushes. However, anyone with arthritis or other back issues needs to keep a supply of these mops around. They are the perfect mini rag mop for smaller cleaning, mopping and dusting chores. They can save you a lot of back and shoulder pain. I clean all those hard-to-reach places in the bathroom and under the kitchen sink where it would be impossible for me to clean without the benefit of the long handle. I grab my little mop anytime I find a little puddle of water I can't reach easily. I dust the tops of taller furniture. I drag pennies, marbles, paperclips and other small items out from under the bed, table or other raised furniture. My favorite use for the mini mop is the corner where my countertop turns to make an L-shape...before the mini mop, I could never reach that corner without having a severe ache in my shoulder for the rest of the day. Mops and brooms can be very clumsy for small chores whether you have arthritis or not. Why pull them out for small chores, only to have to store them again a minute later. I just keep my mini mop under the sink in easy reach. Just make sure you use a permanent marker to label the cleaning mini mop so you don't end up with a family member using it for food purposes. Also, if you have a cat, you might want to be sure he doesn't have access to your mop. It will be too tempting for a cat to resist. Be sure and rinse any cleaning products out of the strands of your little mop before drying and storing it away. They last quite a long time. This mop is an arthritic person's best cleaning tool.
