Tackled the foul odor coming from bathroom drain

John February 26, 2026

I had a positive experience with the Bioda Professional Strength Enzyme Drain Cleaner. Recently, I used the product to address a persistent rotten odor coming from my bathroom sink and shower drains. After following the "problematic drains" instructions—applying 1/3 cup nightly for four consecutive days—the odors have completely disappeared. I was particularly impressed as this saved me from a $150 plumber quote. I plan to continue using the product as a preventative measure at the recommended 1/4 cup weekly dose. Using just 1/4 cup weekly means this gallon jug will last for 64 uses! I noticed some negative reviews regarding clogged drains, but in my experience, this product is an excellent solution for managing odors and maintaining drain health before a full clog develops. Oh, and it is made in the USA!

Removes funky Odors

Theresa February 23, 2026

My bathroom had a funky odor, despite cleaning with everything from spray bleach cleaner to a lemon scent "Clean" product. It wasn't horrid, but I noticed it. I tried this down the drain in the tub last night and this morning the odor is gone! I am thrilled. The only problem I had with it was it does splash while pouring it. It did not pit the tub finish where it landed.

Best stuff keep dog accidents and sewer pipes run.

william February 25, 2026

Let's face it people own dogs and cats and these animals will have accidents, hopefully not often. The smell that makes those odors is caused by bacteria that thrives and even after washing thoroughly can regenerate and explode bringing the odor right back again. This is the only enzyme cleaner that eats the bacteria that makes the odors...but wait, this stuff thrives on sewage too, and putting this stuff down all your drains every now and again will eat the sludge that builds up in your pipes. It literally digests the stuff that causes the pipes to slow down and stop up draining. It works best when you use it as a clog preventative since it requires time to eat the build up of hair and toothpaste and hair conditioner that slowly clogs your pipes. You don't need to use a bunch at one time but steady use will keep sinks and sewage pipes running like new. Not easy to find this stuff, and I do NOT use Amazon, so Walmart is my go to place to get it....they will even deliver it so you don't need to go to the store. I highly recommend this stuff also because it is actually good for your Septic Tank breaking down solids....and that saves you even more reducing the need to pump it out.

Looking forward to a fresh drain l!

Max May 30, 2026

I had a problematic sink drain in our upstairs bathroom and had tried everything to remedy it. Every time I would go brush my teeth I could smell this icky rotting aquarium scent, it was disgusting! Baking soda and vinegar didn’t work, bleach didn’t work, boiling water didn’t help, it was infuriating. We started getting little gnats and fruit flies in that room so I ordered this. Per the instructions I poured it down the drain and let it sit overnight. It already doesn’t smell! It says to use it for a week and should fix our issue. It has a wonderful scent and I love that it’s not harsh chemicals like I had tried before. And it’s septic safe too so that’s a big plus!

excellent

Shannon February 25, 2026

i used the over night the first day i got it. my kitchen sink had gotten stinky from the drain catching small food particles and some small amounts of olive oil from cooking. i wasn't sure this would work, but i wanted to stay away from harsh chemicals since the plumbing is pretty old. the drains were a little slow, I'm not sure they were clogged drains, but they run really clear now. it's as simple as pouring a small amount into the drain and letting it sit, without running water down them. overnight worked best for me, but if you do it before work, that could be great too. Just follow the simple instructions, about 1/4 cup of the bioda, don't add anything, let it sit for about 8 hours, and poof! your drain is clear and the bad smells are gone!

Works Great!

anonymous June 4, 2026

The Bioda drain cleaner is s winner! My kids bathroom sink drain gets smelly because of too many big clumps of toothpaste getting built up in the bottom of gooseneck on the drain. I usually have to disconnect the pipe and de-gunk monthly. I poured in the Bioda and let it sit according to directions. it dissolved those smelly clumps and no more stink or slow drain. What a time saver! it's also safe for pipes and environmentally friendly. I highly recommend giving it a try!

Good stuff (needs a applicator)

FreeBeing June 2, 2026

I didn't realize how much I needed this until I used it. I don't really have a problem with anything but my kitchen sink and disposal as far as smell. I did use this in all the sinks though and I put a bit down the shower drain. I figure it won't hurt to just keep those clean. The kitchen sink/disposal is where the magic happens. Even after using this one time - I poured about 1/4 cup down each side of the sink at night - I can tell it smells cleaner. I'm going to use regularly as suggested. I didn't realize that my sink had a slight lingering smell on the disposal side until I used this. I took a good sniff and although it wasn't bad, there was an unpleasant hint of odor. Next morning, I ran warm water through both sides and took a sniff. Much fresher without any perfume-y or other scent. It just smelled cleaner. The one thing I wish is that this had a dispenser nozzle or something. It's very easy to spill because the jar is so large and heavy. I put the whole jar in a plastic grocery bag before putting it away. I keep it in the bag while I shake before using. It is good stuff!

great for oders

anonymous February 22, 2026

Amazing for Odors, but Don't Expect a Miracle for Clogs I got the Bioda Enzyme Cleaner primarily to deal with some persistent smells coming from my drains, and on that front, it has been fantastic. Within a short time, the "swampy" odor was completely gone. It’s definitely a much more pleasant (and eco-friendly) experience than using harsh chemicals. The Pros: Odors: This is where the product shines. It neutralized smells instantly and keeps the area smelling fresh. Safety: I love that it’s an enzyme-based cleaner, so I don't have to worry about damaging my pipes or breathing in toxic fumes. The Cons: Slow Drains: While the smell is gone, my drain is still running quite slowly. If you have a physical blockage (like hair or heavy grease buildup), this might not have the "muscle" to clear it quickly. Results: Because it works biologically, it’s hard to tell exactly how much "cleaning" it’s doing deep in the pipes beyond just removing the scent. Final Verdict: If you’re looking to freshen up a smelly sink, this is a 5-star product. However, if you have a serious clog, you might still need a plunger or a snake. It's a great maintenance tool, but maybe not a heavy-duty drain opener.

Bioda is Good for drain maintenance

Gregory April 22, 2026

this is a good product. but it seems more like a maintenance product and not a drain unclogger. using this product regularly does help to control odors and does maintain a clear drain. If you have a clogged drain, you need to use something else to clear it. then use Bioda to maintain the clear drain. In that respect, the product works very well.

Chau June 9, 2026

This is more of a drain maintenance product than an emergency drain opener. The liquid pours easily and doesn’t have the harsh chemical smell that many drain cleaners do. It works best for keeping drains fresh and reducing odors over time rather than clearing major clogs. If you use it regularly, it helps keep buildup under control without being harsh on pipes or septic systems.
