Great

Calvin June 13, 2016

I know it's made for refinishing gunstocks but it works great for guitars to. I'm redoing a old neck on my bass and I applied about 4 coats on it and it looks beautiful nice gloss.

Tung Oil

Scott February 25, 2025

The ONLY TUNG OIL PRODUCT. Really does a good job of refinishing gun stocks.

This oil is great for protecting wood.

TonyB June 6, 2016

It was recommended to me from someone that works on guitars. (Sorry gun guys) My son did say he uses this product for his rifles.

Always the best

Wulfbait September 5, 2014

I've been using Tru Oil since the 1970's to finish gun stocks and grips. Always come out perfect. I can not find another product that works as well. Try it and you will use it always.

Easy to use.

I've used this product before with excellent results, it provides a high gloss finish with hardly any effort.

When only the best will do....Tru-Oil!

VaughnFineKnives November 15, 2014

I first used Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil about 30 years ago, on the recommendation of a gunsmith who was also a world-class competitive shooter. He said there was simply not a better product made for refinishing stocks and grips. Well, he was absolutely right.! Today, I still favor it over any other product for gunstock refinishing, and for my handmade knives, pens, and most other small wood projects. It's super easy to apply, dries fast, builds to a high film with only a few coats, and cures to a hard, durable finish that holds up as well as anything on the market. And, any scratches that happen in service are easily repairable. Although a few woods with unusual coloration (such as pink ivory, purpleheart, black/white ebony) look better with shellac or lacquer finishes in my opinion, I prefer Tru-Oil for probably 90% of woods. It's possible to achieve surface luster effects ranging from fully matte to mirror gloss, using standard techniques. It'll give you the warm, rich classic glow of a hand-rubbed oil finish when rubbed out with rottenstone and paraffin oil, or a clear, deep, mirror gloss when sanded out to 12,000 grit with Micro Mesh and buffed with pink scratchless compound on a loose muslin buff. If you'd like a silky satin sheen, an automotive-type buffing compound will do the trick. Just make sure to allow the Tru-Oil a few weeks to fully cure before you do any of these secondary operations.

Good Stuff

HPUKE January 28, 2016

I used this on a 65 year old stock that I did not want to sand and fully restore but wanted to retain the original defects from 65 years use and with one coating it almost looks as good as new.

Nice & Easy

holygeez03 May 18, 2015

This stuff went on even easier than I expected... it goes on a little thicker than regular Tung Oil and creates a nice finish that can be easily repaired in the future if necessary.
