Blackburn Road Bike Replacement Bicycle Tire, 27" x 1.25"

This 1-1/4 inch tire fits my older bike's 1-1/8 inch rim just fine. This is the second one I bought. The other one has held up well. I am not the most adept at installing tires, but I got the tire on without too much struggle and there was enough space to get the tube in without pinching it. One tip I saw on the internet was to line up the logo on the tire with the valve stem. It could help to locate a future tube puncture.

Made from butyl rubber with modern high pressure molds, woven with metal wire and not just nylon. The overall based on the pro's, better psi and weight rating than old gum-wall clincher design tires, more tire tread. I kind of wish I could afford the sand enduro tires, on and off-road due to water wash-outs and sand patch problems with rural road riding, sand tires are far more safer for winter riding than these low grip tires. The tire takes a few hours without or a few minutes to straighten it out after unfolded with a blow dryer or heat-Gun, to install it. I use light grease or petroleum jelly to install tires by hand with no pry-bars, without risking damage, no pry-bars were included in package, I bought a pair of tires for a modified Schwinn world sport 1984-September with 1983 S.Sprint steel chrome rims and sun-tour hubs(Japanese parts) polished freewheel by hand, took 10 hours to get it clean with scotch-bright glued to a plastic card and chemical cleaning products, fine sand paper for final polishing. The Olympics reminded me why I needed to take care of an old bike and my heart. I have not installed the tires yet due to waiting for my air-brush, so I could restore the decals(detail work) and cover the paint scars, custom restoration projects take time with less error. Using caution when installing new tires and tubes prevents wasted time, silicone self sealing hose tape and alternative rim liners with non-volatile lubricants will lengthen the life of tires and tubes and prevent water from getting into the RIM with older bike designs, silicone caulking is way to messy to seal a rim unless your a pro-bike builder. Your going to want a paper-hole puncher if your making custom rim liners for an old bike. I don't like flat tires so I made my own out of an old tube to double up on protection from spokes probing or puncturing my new tubes.

I don't understand why Wal Mart charges me for shipping almost $26 when I have Walmart plus supposed to be free shipping if they stay free shipping it needs to be free shipping not using these outsiders to sell Walmart product. That's not right if you have Walmart plus you should have free shipping, we have to correct this or lose more shoppers without shoppers. We don't have a store we're not too big to fail.

Easy to install and really puncture resistent

I have heard good things about this type of tire from the biking community. I am especially interested in the puncture resistant quality, if you've ever run over a nail as I have. I expect to buy another on to have the matched set. Although my bicycle is in winter storage right now, I am anxious to mount this tire on it. I can see it is a quality, well made sturdy tire. I will definitely be back to update in riding season.

While I was familiar with Bell brand tires - I was not familiar with “Blackburn brand bicycle tires” before getting this replacement for a worn out front tire. While the company Blackburn is ‘printed' on the tire, the name INNOVA is actually manufactured in raised rubber in the side-wall of the tire. The tire went on easy enough (in less than 6-8 minutes) and has decent tread for a 10-speed road bicycle. I'm hoping the advertisement on the box is true, which reports the tire is 30% stronger and has anti-puncture technology. I guess time and miles will reveal if that's true.

These are pretty good tires. They were fairly easy to install. Or as easy as most. After getting them on, I took them for a ride and could already tell the ride was smoother than with my previous tires. It was a better ride on my bumpy road. I will definitely be getting some of these for my other bicycles.

I am very happy with the product and experiences that I have had with Blackburn bicycle tires. And will continue to purchase them in the future.

It didn't fit!!!!!!!

I put this on the front of my Schwinn Le Tour and slowly pumped it up to 85 psi. The tire is rated from 60 - 95 psi. The pressure pushed the side of the tire out of the rim and the inner tube bubbled out between the bead and the rim and popped. The tubes will naturally do that if the tire doesn't stay seated. So I lost a perfectly good inner tube. Got another inner tube and tried it again. And again. And again. I probably tried it 10 separate times. Each time, the pressure would start to push one side of the tire out of the rim. In multiple places. Yes, I've got the right size tire. Yes my rims are fine. I found that if I only put 60 (the minimum rating) pounds of pressure in, the tire would still start coming out of the rim, but wouldn't come out enough for the inner tube to get under the bead. And yes, I am absolutely sure that the inner tube was completely INSIDE the tire each and every time. I've only had this problem before when I've not been careful enough to make sure part of the inner tube is not slightly under the bead at the start of an install, but that hasn't happened for a long, long time. I've used and have got some of the Bell Kevlar road tires and they work just fine. I've also had some other gum sidewall road tires on my two bicycles and haven't had a problem for years. I did notice that the bead was not as pronounced on this Blackburn tire as it is on my Bell Kevlar tires. I have a theory that in addition to that, even though I had to use the plastic fulcrum tools to get the Blackburn on the rim and it seemed tight enough, since it was slipping out of the rim in multiple places and those places were staggered on both sides, there might be a possibility that the Blackburn tire is just a few mm too big around as well. I took the bike out for a short midnight spin on the off chance that somehow the tire would seat itself with some use. Didn't work. In fact, it started to creep out of the rim in a couple more places. I'll continue to buy and use the Bell Kevlar tires which seat on my rims but I won't trust the Bell Blackburn line.
