I read other reviews before buying this plant stand. I used a rubber mallot to tap the poles into place. It worked great. The zippers are better than I imagined.
I purchased the greenhouse to start tomato, pepper, and other veggies for planting after the frost. I use this small greenhouse inside my large greenhouse so I can control the soil temp. better. works great. By the way, 1/2" CPVC pipe fit the post holes in the bottom, added legs so I could add a heat lamp under, works great. Getting ready to order two more.
I have mixed feelings about this item. The price is right and it seems like it will work great for seed starting but so far I have found 2 issues. One is it comes apart every time I try to move it. even moving it a few inches causes the bars to pop out which is annoying empty but I worry everything will fall when full. Hopefully the plant weight will help keep it together. The rods just slide in and there are no screws or anything that hold them. So if you move it (even empty) the bars pop out. The second issue is I can not figure out how to fastening it down. It came with some wire hooks but the instructions failed to tell how they are to be used. This is a issue because the other day it was windy and guess what fell over? Thankfully it was still empty at the time. Bottom line is if you need to start your seeds and want to protect them from the chilly early spring night air this will work at a great price but be prepared to find your own way to tie it down.
This was easy to assemble and the 'end bars' (plastic material) add rigidity over the 'tee' connecter used for similar products. I used a rubber mallet to tap the metal tubes into place. The vinyl cover was a god fit and slipped over assembled frame easy. I placed mine against wall outside (in CA) so added a board (span is 27") over lower shelf and a pair of bricks to add 'ballast' to counter wind. So far excellent. And frost, sparrows, etc. can't get at my starts. But drawback is lack of ventilation so evaporation from damp pots quickly condensed on interior. This not so good as promotes mold and fungal diseases. I use this type for starting seedlings and 'boosting' started plants from nursery but a) added vent hole near top and b) unzip the door for an hour or so daily. Were I improving on this design I would add a flap opening or two to vent. Most greenhouses have this feature (also allows hot air to vent out in summer).
Dimensions were accurate. fits my space perfectly. So far, cats have not gotten through the cover. Unit is being used as an indoor seed starting center.
Protected my plants from the cold. It was missing one section of the legs but purchased a wood dowel for replacement.
The wire shelving had sharp exposed ends and I had to bend it to fit the unit. It was smaller i.e. shorter and narrower than I had expected. Would have been nice to see it next to a person to give a idea of size. After I purchased I saw one that was better quality at a local store for about $10.00 less. The plastic used to cover the unit was different but the quality was better there was a green grid running through the plastic instead of the clear plastic pictured. It was very easy to put together no tools required. I would NOT use a hammer or mallet when assembling you run the risk of damaging the unit. I had planned on using outside but the unit was small enough to fit on my kitchen counter so it is currently inside.
Even staked down with the enclosed stakes it blew oner. One of the ties of the cover ripped loose while being tied. This might do as an indoor unit but not worth much outside. I get to replant everything after it blew over.
While the size of this greenhouse would be perfect for an indoor space, the construction is poor. If I try to move it a couple of inches to sweep around it as an example, the shelves collapse my plantings tip over and I have a huge mess. Very disappointed with this product.
I have used portable greenhouses in the past. I was shocked to receive this package due to it's size. it literally fits on top of a side table and the depths of the shelves accommodate 2 individual pots.
