Brother 1034D 3 or 4 Thread Serger with Easy Lay-in Threading, White

This is a gift that I have not yet opened. The reviews for this product are excellent. I got a great deal pricewise. It arrived promptly and looks in perfect condition.

I really love this serger!! It is easy to use and to thread. I also own another serger that cost a few thousand, which is currently getting repaired. I purchased this one just to use while my other one is being repaired. I like this one so much, that I may get a second one!! Sews like a dream through thick and thin fabrics, and uses standard sewing machine needles.

I love this machine. The rolled hem comes out perfectly. I would recommend this product to any one who needs a surger. It is so easy to thread. I have previously owned a surger and it was a nightmare to thread it. Thank you Brother for your innovative product.

My wife has wanted a surger for years & we have shopped several times, but never found the right value. This was it. Several other sites had the same machine & some seemed like a comperable price, but after shipping & hidden fees, they were much more. I bought this through site-to-store & it arrived in less time than promised. It was great... in the middle of the Christmas rush I was able to pick up my machine with absolutely no wait in line. My wife was thrilled with the features & quality of the machine.

I purchased this serger as a back up serger to the one I already own. So far it has worked really well. It doesn't seem to be as strong as the one I have already (New Home 234D) but it will be a good machine for what I plan to use it for. I love, love, love the removable area for sewing in small areas like sleeves and cuffs. And the lever that allows you to drop the knfe is also great. I haven't changed the thread that came on the machine originally yet, but I'm sure it'll be fine and fairly simple to change. I called the Brother company to ask how this machine compares to the ones sold by dealers of higher end machines and the representative reminded me that dealers are selling you support and, in most cases, classes to learn how to use your machine and they disguise these amenities by saying that they are free, when in actuality they are worked into the cost of the machine. So with that said, there are tons of blogs and videos to support you in using this serger. One tip I saw in a YouTube video that I would like to share. You should oil the machine before you ever sew on it. This is mentioned in the manual, but not until the end. Most of us will take it out of the box and since it's already threaded, just start using it. Resist the urge and oil it first and it will run a lot quieter and smoother. I hope this review helps.

The serger was shipped upside down in the Walmart box that clearly had "this end up" markers. This made the pre-threading a bit of a moot point as there was much tangling. I was able to work it out and there doesn't appear to be any damage to the machine itself. From preliminary testing, the serger seems to be running fine. I'm excited to have the machine!

I ordered the singer serger and took it back. This serger has so much more to offer at a cheaper price. A simple thing like a bin that holds the clippings is not included with other makes! The colour coated threads make it easy to see. It does include a video which can come in helpful. Great machine for the price!

I was so excited for this serger to arrive as it was delayed twice. I had a headache yesterday when it finally came so opened box tonight. Why are the spools of thread all knotted up inside the box and running through or under the serger? The silver knob on top looks to be leaning to the side- not sure if that's right or not. Either way, I didn't even lift it out the box once I saw that. So disappointed, I will be returning this mess to Walmart asap!!

I purchased a serger and it was damaged when i received it. I am still waiting for my refund. Its almost a month in.

After extensive research, I decided to purchase the Brother Serger 1034D. It was delivered intact, threaded and on time; however, the WHEEL did not turn for the machine to start serging. I had to manually FORCE it to turn. I took it to the recommended dealer to discuss the matter and they said to oil the unit as instructed in the manual which I did. Granted, after a STRUGGLE TO GET THE WHEEL TO TURN, the machine did start working; however, the wheel is still VERY HARD to turn. It sews beautifully, but makes more noise then it should to get it started. I plan to take it back to the recommended dealer for review and may have to return it. It is brand new and still under warranty. I'm very disappointed and hope this problem can be resolved.
