Brother SQ9285 Computerized Sewing and Quilting Machine with Wide Table, 150 stitches

This is third one I have owned. I updated to this one from the other two due to age. I owned the previous model for 15 years. I wore out many items on the machine. That it cost more to replace parts so I bought the newer model. I am in love with the extra stitches. Also like the thread holder is now sideways. Much easier to use threads without breaking as in the previous model. The extra table for quilting is wider on this model which I absolutely enjoy. I have had it now for two weeks and have used it every day. W as very pleased that the instructions for threading and bobbin winding was quick and easy. Happy to see the tension is absolutely perfect so far ! No more thread knots. Love love. Would recommend this for any beginner sewer or even ones that have sewed for years. And just want an easy machine to use.

This is my first review on Walmart website because this sewing machine deserves it. I have owned a Brother CS6000i for 10 years. It does the job and still works fine. I used it for hemming or fixing my store-bought clothes. I want to give it away to my friend because it was my ex birthday gift for me. I ordered the SQ9285 at 2am in the morning free shipping and got it at my door at 10am. Delivery is exceptional. I think it's better than Amazon Prime. I opened the box and set it up. Testing out all the stitches and I love it. It runs smoother than my CS6000i. I think it's a bit quieter too. If you want to sew letters but don't want to get the SE700 for embroidery function, this one is perfect for the price. I love how it looks on my desk. Will update if anything changes over time.

Out of all the sewing machines I’ve ever owned or tried I’m my 20 years of sewing, this machine is, by far, my absolute favorite! Super easy to learn, equally easy to use, and is great for sewing AND quilting. I make tons of baby clothes and children’s clothes. Almost all of these little garments come with matching cloth-covered buttons. The one-step buttonhole foot makes this task so simple. I recommend this machine literally ALL the time!

I have been using an older, very basic Brother sewing machine for years. When it was time to upgrade, I knew I wanted to go with Brother again. I love this machine so much. It runs super quiet, it surprised my whole family. I love all the stitch options, but the different presser feet are really what sold me. I have been trying to figure out how to overcast stitch (making unpaper towels), and I have been able to complete so many projects. The stitching is super smooth, the instructions are very easy to read and understand. I really like the option of either using the foot pedal or the “go” button. Being able to adjust the max speed is a huge plus, because sometimes I cannot seem to control the pressure I put on the pedal.

As a beginner sewer, I absolutely love my Brother SQ9285 sewing machine. It offers a huge variety of cool stitches that make every project fun and creative. The machine sews with ease, making it perfect for someone like me who is just starting out. It’s user-friendly, reliable, and has become an essential tool in my sewing journey. Love this machine. I had an older Brother machine that got broke in a move. Instead of having it repaired, I decided to spoil myself with a new one. I am so glad I did. It so easy to use, even if you're a beginner. Love the start stop buttons. I haven't even tried using the foot pedal yet. So many decorative stitches. And it's fool proof. Select your stitch and the machine tells you which presser foot you need to use. I suppose the only negative thing I could say about it is that had I known how easy it was, I might have gotten one with more fonts. It just has the one. but it's one more than my old machine had. Best purchase ever!

When I picked up my sewing machine I did so curbside. The associates there were so helpful and lovely. But the Sewing Machine they brought out to me was obviously one that had been opened, returned and re-taped up. This was not acceptable to me so I immediately took it straight back inside to the returns desk where a lady associate (who was obviously having a bad day) decided to try and insult my intelligence by saying "as you can see this is the manufacturers tape". I actually laughed and asked her if she was joking, as I said that it had obviously already been opened, as there is a blue security sticker on it that is placed over both top parts of the box by the manufacturer, which had been sliced through and didn't even line up! Another customer who was behind me waiting also said to her "Everyone in line here can see that box has been opened". After some other questions, I literally had to show her my pick up email to justify that I'd only just gotten it 5 minutes previously! She really didn't want to give me a new, unopened Sewing Machine! Which is what I was entitled to!! You would think they were taking this out of her paycheck!! Eventually, the associate relented and got someone else to come and look at it, who then asked her "Are you going to exchange this for her?" I said "Yes she is, because I'm not accepting this! What is going on here today!" Then when another Sewing machine was brought to the desk, the original woman was then questioning the associate who was taking the security tag off "Make sure it's the same one, That box looks bigger!" The girl who was helping me with the 'new' machine was looking really embarrassed and said "Yes it is". I thanked her for her help and left. I've never experienced anything like this at Ocean Springs Walmart before in the 8 years I've been shopping there. The first photo is what I picked up, the second is what I eventually took home, the difference is night and day.

It is very easy to use and even comes with a dvd if you need instructions. I have one like this back home so I know how to use it. The needle threader works great if you remember to put the foot down first and another great feature is the needle position can be moved from left to right.

Love my new sewing machine. Still getting used to it. I've been sewing on my old Brother machine since 1989. Can't wait to see what I can do on my new Brother. 🤗

after using my XR series for more than 10 years, i decided to get newer version. this machine is surprisingly quiet and smooth and very easy to deal with (even my 6 years old daughter can use it independently)
