So I'm new to all aspects gardening. I read the instructions, scanned the thingy to watch the video, and started pouring the water. A bunch of the little soil disks had flipped around in cells but I didn't think it would make a difference. Once you pour the water in the soil turns to mush right? Absolutely not. They expanded horizontally and were jammed into the bottom of each cell so tight that I had to pick away at them with a small sharp knife. It took well over an hour and I got dirt everywhere. So yea…please make sure that the soil disks are upright in each cell. While this might seem like common sense to most people I'm sure enthusiastic gardeners with ADD/ADHD will save themselves a lot of grief lol. BUT…once it was all sorted out it worked great. Many of my seeds germinated over night. I planted zinnias, asters, marigolds, baby blue eucalyptus, and some dahlias and they are all doing great.

Should have read the reviews, wanted to start seeds while being gone for a week, but half of the reviews are negative. So I guess will have to wait until after the trip, which was the whole reason for the purchase. If they work as advertised I would change review but not going to burn through 228 expensive seeds…

I was really excited about trying to grow flowers from seed. I bought seeds from Burpee as well as the self-watering tray and followed the directions to the letter. Only handful sprouted and then later died. Not what I would expect from Burpee. Buyer beware.

The way the instructions on the packaging show the assembly does NOT work. The how to video from Burpee is no longer available. We made it work, but not the way it was supposed to. Just like a normal seed tray. Definitely not worth the extra money!

Plastic trays and matts did sprout my seeds, but very sporadic success depending on type of plant. the dirt blocks that come with it don't work. have to Buy your own dirt.

My order of over $60 was a complete failure. Nothing came up. I followed the instructions to the letter. The pellets never resolved or filled the planting cup. Very disappointed.

New to seed starting. This seemed like a cant fail way to do it. Disappointed. Flimsy materials. It might last through next season. Hard to regulate soil temp because so high above heat mat. I think it made the cells too wet.

as soon as i added water little flies began hatching , my house is now full of these this pests

the pellets didn't expand well and the plants grew too spindly
