This ceramic self-watering planter is attractive and functional, with a clean square shape that looks nice indoors. The ceramic outer pot has a smooth finish and feels solid, and the self-watering design is more thoughtful than a simple cachepot setup. Water is added to the bottom container, and the unglazed portion of the inner pot allows moisture to seep through the clay so the plant can draw up what it needs. That setup helps prevent overwatering and lowers the risk of root rot as long as the plant is matched to the correct pot size. This planter is too large for most newly purchased African violets from nurseries, since many of those are sold in 4 inch pots even though the plants themselves are usually nowhere near wide enough for that size. For African violets, the pot diameter should be about one third of the plant’s leaf span, so a 6 inch wide plant should be in about a 2 inch pot, a 9 inch wide plant in about a 3 inch pot, and a 12 inch wide plant in about a 4 inch pot. I have a violet that is easily 12 inches wide, and that is the kind of plant size I’d use this for. Overall, this is a nice-looking self-watering planter, but it is better suited to a more mature violet or another plant with a larger root system than the average nursery starter.
This Ceramics Self-Watering Planter in Modern Square Grey is simply perfect. The sleek matte finish looks stunning in any space — minimalist, Scandinavian, or contemporary — and the build quality feels genuinely premium. The self-watering feature is the real star. As someone who travels often, I no longer worry about coming home to wilted plants. The reservoir keeps everything consistently hydrated without overwatering, and my plants have never looked healthier. Foolproof, beautiful, and built to last. I've already bought several as gifts. Highly recommend!
This light green ceramic planter really shows off our little Coleus bright colored leaves. So easy to pot, add water to bottom and it will self water. I need to get a few more of these, especially for an African Violet.
The planter arrived well packaged and in perfect condition. It’s a beautifully made ceramic piece with a convenient self-watering feature. I look forward to seeing it self water drawing water through the unfinished ceramic from the bottom of the second pot. Because it’s on the shallow side, it’s ideal for a bonsai tree, which is exactly how I’m using it.
The color is not exactly as advertised, but in this case I actually prefer the one I received. It’s a really pretty soft blue that looks great with my African violets and fits in nicely with the rest of my collection. The glaze isn’t perfect and there are some inconsistencies, especially on the inside, but that area is covered by soil so it doesn’t affect the overall look once planted. From the outside it still presents nicely. I transplanted one of my violets into it and filled the reservoir to the top. When you fill it fully the water will push out a bit, so it’s best to do that step over the sink. Once it’s filled though, it really is a set it and forget it situation for a couple of weeks, which is exactly what I want for this type of pot. For someone with a large plant collection like mine, (100 ) this is a convenient and attractive option despite a few minor cosmetic flaws. No African violet? This self watering container is suitable even for cactus. pretty color and functional self watering pot for violets
I have not decided what I am going to plant. I was a little worried because bottom of the innder pot seemed solid to me. According to Google the inner pot has microscopic holes. I poured water in the glaze pot and the bottom of the inner pot is actually moist and cool. It is a bigger pot than it looks in the picture I hope my picture accurately reflected that. It should give my plant ample room for the roots to spread. They call these African violets pots because they don't like to get their leaves wet. But I think I'm going to try for a herb. I think it is very pretty and will add a pop of color to my kitchen windowsill.
This is so pretty! As the pics below will show..it has two pieces, the base and the insert. It's all ceramic, very well made and you just put your own African Violet in it! It's confusing tho bc I don't see how it's self-watering? I'll have to investigate further!☺️
I chose this ceramic pot for an orchid arrangement on my coffee table. One issue I ran into was inconsistent sizing in the product description. It lists both 6" x 6" x 4.9" and 8" x 8" x 7.5", which made it hard to know what to expect. For accuracy, the actual dimensions (including the inner pot) are 6" x 6" x 4.75" high. (The inner pot measures 5.25" in diameter and 3.75" high.) As it turned out, these dimensions were almost identical to my previous pot, so transferring the plant was effortless. The color is off-white rather than bright white, which worked well for my project. I added small felt pads to the bottom of the pot to protect my table. Overall, this worked perfectly for my needs, and I’d rate it 5/5.
I like that this planter is ceramic, that was a big plus for me. The size ended up being a little smaller than I expected, but I think it will work well for my violet. There are actually no holes at the bottom of the inner pot at all, so I'm not sure yet how it's supposed to self-water. I'll have to figure out how it works.
This pot is not the color in the picture. It's more red than blueish purple as the description says, not as the picture shows. NO DRAIN HOLE. This pot is NOT for regular plants that you water. This is for African Violets, succulents/cacti or anything that you don't water from the top and/or that require very little water. (African violets' leaves will "burn" (turn brown) if water gets on them.) This pot comes in two pieces. The outer piece is glazed on the outside and top and unglazed on the inside. The inner piece is only glazed on the top and unglazed inside and out. The inner piece sits on top and inside the outer piece. It is suspended above/inside the bottom water reservoir (the outer piece) that holds the water--about an inch above the bottom. The inner piece then absorbs the water you pour into the outer piece's reservoir, through its porous inner pot. So your plant(s) get watered THROUGH the inner pot that sits in the water reservoir you made when you poured water into the outer part. So don't fill the outer pot. Leave plenty of room for the inner pot to sit inside, so the water doesn't overflow once the inner piece is lowered all the way down into the outer piece.
