Its john wayne at his best good story got to have it if you like john wayne
A family movie, for kids to learn family values and good movie for adults, for adults it reminds them real responsibiliĺly to raise them up.
This is not one of the great John Wayne westerns. It's a fairly slow moving Western with a limited amount of action and the story is fairly boring. Wayne is excellent as is Neville Brand as the Indian tracker. George Kennedy is good as the bad guy in this. The problem is the story just kind of meanders along slowly. this definitely does not compare to the better westerns of that era, Liberty Valance, Chishm, Katie Elder, Train Robbers, etc. It's definitely a must have for the Wayne collector. It's not a bad movie just not as good as most of the other Wayne movies he made in the 60's and 70's. As far as the Blu-ray goes the picture is crystal clear, the commentary by Andrew McLaglen is worth listening to and the music by Elmer Bernstein is very close to the Magnificent Seven music and it does help move the picture along. There is a short featurette and subtitles. The price was right at $12 but I wouldn't spend much more than that on it. I don't remember any movie that John Wayne made that's not worth watching at least once.
