I enjoy the heavy and balanced weight of this set, unlike others that feel like painted plastic. It also has a classic design that works well for everyday use, but would look great with your best formal dinnerware as well. When the other sets I purchased recently were a big disappointment, I hunted this down, my favorite flatware, and am so happy to have it again.
Beautiful pattern and good quality.
Cambridge Silversmiths has drawn from 5 generations of craftsmanship to produce a timeless, high quality, elegant pattern in their Bayleaf Sand Flatware set. This is a sturdy, medium--heavy weight, balanced, no bend stainless steel set that feels good and looks great. The new two-toned polished/satin finish makes this one of the most attractive and versatile flatware sets available. Whether used for everyday family meals or a more formal dinner setting the Bayleaf Sand design will be a comfortable fit. Includes: 4 salad forks, 4 dinner forks, 4 dinner knives, 4 dinner spoons and 4 teaspoons > 420 Stainless Steel (18/0) > Medium--Heavy weight (3.0/2.5 mm in gauge) > Dishwasher-safe > Corrosion resistant > Never needs polishing > 25 yr warranty
Quite Impressive all around. Attractive/Gift worthy packaging. Each piece has good weight; nice quality feel in the hand; more heavy than my expensive Oneida community stainless. Edges are smooth. No lightweight “tinny” sound when I set down on the granite counter. The tines of the dinner fork are longer, which gives a higher end look. Tines and handles are thick/not easily bendable. The table knife is 1 solid piece. The tablespoon is a larger soup spoon/easily doubles as a serving spoon. Salad fork and “tea” (cereal) spoon are average size. I've had them for a week and have run them through the DW a few times. The satin finish on the handles hides a multitude of spots/smudges; leaving only faint evidence of abrasion inflicted from other pieces of flatware-but I had to specifically look hard for it. The remainder of the piece is a smooth, highly polished finish. The “Bayleaf Sand” pattern has a classy, simple style; neither too old-fashion or too modern. Not too casual or too formal. Since this was a promotional item, I don't yet know the price; but at this company's usual price point, it would be a very good value. I'm planning to order more sets.
the only thing I just liked about this is the handles will not fit in the slots towards silverware in the dishwasher
My grandson and sister lost some of the set I had. I'm thankful I was able to match my service of 8 even though I will extra pieces. That will be okay.
I love the look and feel of the silverware . Reasonable price and since I got one serves for 4 people I would buy more to serve up to 8 . It's totally worth it !
Exactly what I wanted
Have had these a little over a week and love them so far. First lets start with the design which is subtle and feel great to hold. Theres a small difference in the finish of the wides vs the middle of each and it helps grasp them better. The weigh of the spoons and forks are fantastic. The knives are alittle thin but I like the overall shape and weigh is fine based on the size. The forks and spoons definitely feel weightier but not by much. They are made of high quality stainless steel and are easy to clean. Right out of the box it suggests putting them in the dishwasher which we did and they came out spotless with no water marks or burns which i had had happen with other sets I've purchased. I have also hand washed the set twice and again easy to clean. I would absolutely recommend these for anybody looking to add some flatware to their existing set or need a quality replacement. Would have given 5 stars if the knives were just a bit thicker and/or heavy.
I chose the Cambridge Silversmiths 20 piece flatware set in the Bayleaf design. I have never purchased Cambridge so I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this stainless steel utensil set. Cambridge includes detailed care instructions with the flatwear. Most of it is common sense, but I read through regardless. The Bayleaf set is a pretty design. The shine is nice. I noticed this set is a bit lighter than the set I was replacing, but it is still a good weight. I did notice the salad fork is lighter in weight than the tea spoon. The large spoon feels a bit heavier than the knife. It is more of an observation than a flaw. With normal use and proper care this Cambridge set seems like it would last a while. It washed nicely in the dishwasher, and of course that is with following the directions. Both of my sons like the looks and the feel of the Bayleaf set so we are going to look for a larger set that includes a set of serving utensils.
