Used it one time and it was nice to know the RV park was wired correctly and piece of mind knowing I was protected from a surge.
we had another power outage and the "power defender" did it's job and protected our electronics from disaster. the item is working good . we are safe from another disaster that cost us before in the past month.
Great device to have to help protect all of the electrical devices on your camper when hooked up to strange power sources while traveling. Just knowing you have that extra assurance helps.
perfect tool to check your shore power before plugging in
works the same as 15 or 20 A tester, great little device
These units, either the "DogBone" or this style, are "One Shot" surge protectors. They do protect against damaging surges, but stop working after one burst. A different unit by Camco has a re-set on it, but is considerably more expensive.,
The light indicators appear to be functioning accordingly. No indicators of a bad power pedestal so far. Hopefully won't be tested for Surges. Have only owned and used it for about 2 weeks.
I would have liked to give this a 4 for it did protect us when the power got knocked out by the wind a few weeks ago on a camp trip, it did not indicate there was a problem with the electric box we were plugged into which had no power for over 15 hours. We did unplug it, for our own OCD reasons, but it did protect our trailer when it happened, and we have no idea how long the power was out before we had noticed.
Ok for the price. The description overstated the joules capacity by double the actual amount, but not bad for a cheap unit. Better than no protection if you have a small/old/simple rig but I would recommend it to anyone with a valuable RV.
It burned up an my camper cord too. Junk!!!
