This is our second grill box .The first one wore out after five years of year around use. The bottom burned out and fell apart. Most grills only last use about 2 1/2 years . Now we only buy the box instead of a whole new grill.
My family loves grilled food so I have owned many grills, multiple types, and multiple brands, in my 63 years. My Camp Chef grill box is the best by far from the others. Food cooks evenly, quickly, and comes out juicy and delicious. So far, I have cooked chicken and hamburgers. The only downside is that I did not take the time to read the specifications but the mistake is on me. The grill box requires at least a two-burner Camp Chef stove. I purchased a three burner so I could cook meal sides at the same time. The total cost I paid is more than would I would have paid if I would have purchased the stove and grill together. The positive of my error is that Camp Chef warrants the grill box and stove for 10 years.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second one. First one lasted 6 years until rusted out, which is great for the amount of use i got out of it!
I have owned the deluxe grill box for 4 years. It is great. It is perfect for searing steaks. Side note if throw some wood pellets under the grates, you can get some great smoke flavor.
I used my grill on a recent fishing trip and it was spectacular, it's sturdy and grilles perfectly. Only wish they would ship to Canada soon so I can buy more accessories.....
We have had our Big Gas Grill for 3 years now and bought the BBQ grill box at the same time. We use it almost everyday or at the least 4-5 times a week. Was wondering if there is a replacement diffuser plate that we could order to replace the one in our grill box as it is starting to show its age.
Seems well built of good materials that gets the 3 stars. On my initial cook I can see the huge flaw built in this grill box, there is nowhere for the grease to go but on your burners and into the bottom liner of the pro 90 which is not only a nightmare for cleaning but a huge safety hazard! I cooked 2 steaks at low heat and halfway through the cook had a grease fire going. Fortunately I am always minding the grill. This design flaw is a huge disappointment for the build quality and the brand.
I've been using this grill for 3 years now and have had a mostly positive experience. The cast iron grates oven rust over the winter. My main issue is with grease drippings. If grilling something with a lot of fat like burgers made with regular or medium ground beef, the dripping do not vaporize. I have had to deal with quite large flames on many occasions.
Great quality but was dented when I finally got it after the first order going missing.. no time to return again!
Bought this item and it rusted completely within the first year of use. We never left in the weather and cared for the product as we do all of our things. For us to use the item, it can only be used with a pan, so no longer usable for grilling or searing. When we reached out to camp chef for help as the item was within warranty when it began to fall apart and they informed us that due to use with high heat that the warranty is void. I am unsure how for use as a bbq for searing etc which is done at a high temp how the product is not made for that. But that is what we were told. It is very disconcerting when a company does not stand by their product that they market to be used for cooking but then say that it can't withstand high heat.
