Cannon Lake-Troll

The Lake Troll was an amazing deal compared to what I looked at at the sports stores. The downrigger works flawlessly and will add an additional capability to the boat.

It is a good downrigger for the price and it shipped to me right away. I buy from Walmart on line a lot.

Price, quality, base release. This is the second for my boat. Good size for all the lakes around Central Oregon.

Bought this downrigger to mount on a pdl drive kayak. Mounted it to a quick release system mounted to the inside well of the kayak behind the seat. Have been able to use this 3 times now. Fairly easy to set up downrigger for initial use. This is a fairly easy downrigger to operate. Slowly turn counter clockwise to release the pressure holding the weight up and the weight will descend into the water. (Don't counter turn handle too much as the handle will come off. Let the weight take the line out.) Turn clockwise when you reach the depth you want to tighten the line. Turn clockwise when you want to retrieve the weight. This product seems durable and it is easy to operate. Game changer when you can put your end tackle at the correct depth and not guess with other methods.

The downrigger has a major flaw. The counter at the end of the boom has plastic gears, they fell out when I tried to put it together. Cannon would sell more downriggers if they eliminated the counter on the boom, and only had the counter at the wheel. Also they should mount the wheel head permanently on the end of the outrigger rod before sending units out.

I bought this brand new and it would not lower the cannonball I tried everything I even tried calling Cannon they couldn't help me out it was out of warranty I bought over a year ago and never used it it just sat. I am very disappointed 

took out of box, put together, then find out that the clutch does work as said, called cannon and now I have to take it 70 miles one way to be fixed for free, will not be buying any more cannon products
