What a great little product. Well-designed; easy to use IF you can follow clear, explicit directions; great Walmart price and shipping; fits perfectly on my 12' Alumacraft with 7.5hp Evinrude and MinnKota Endura 30; if I try, I could probably find some niggling details to gripe about, but I'm so happy with this basic, no-frills downrigger setup (including the Mini Troll accessory kit, sold separately) that I'll forgo any criticism. --Jay-Drop--
Good item for the price. Works as it should and portable giving it 5 stars. Used it for rainbow trout and seemed to get down to the right depth for the fish everytime. It does make some sound trolling with the steel cable cutting water with an on and off again vibration but that is expected when attached to a 4lb sinker! GREAT FOR THE LAKES AND RIVER.
I Bought, arrived quickly, just what I needed, thanks,
Great for kayak, small fishing boat. Worth for the price paid.
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Package arrived I good condition. Happy with it
My order consisted of a Mini-Troll downrigger which I have put together, but have not gotten a chance to use yet. The product seems substantial and of good quality.
Just purchased riggers in December. By the time I get done chopping ice to launch my boat I'm too tired to go fishing
I purchased this 2 months ago and have already had the screw that is the brake come off and sink to the bottom of the lake. It was a week before i found the part and got it fixed. Used it for 3 days, and the cable tangled and I took the mini troll off the boat. When lifting it off the spacer slid off and sunk to the bottom of the lake. My advice to Minotaur is make the parts to they lock on or snap on but have a way to release when they need to be worked on. Are these parts covered under warranty? Although not sure where my receipt is.
Works great until the wing nut that holds the cable spool backs off when winding up the weight and falls into the water. Needs a longer threaded stud that goes thru the wing nut and has a pin thru it to keep nut from backing all the way off. I knew this was a design flaw before I bought it because it has happened twice before while using my friends and even knowing and watching the nut you can still lose it. Buy spare 3/8-24 wing nuts to keep with it. (updated. No way to edit so posted again with correct size thread for wingnut)
Broke the first time I used it.The plastic around the main bolt clamp cracked. I see from reading many reviews this is very common
