I am a diabetic, and this biscuit does affect my glucose level in any significant way. For someone that has virtually given up most forms of bread, this is a special treat. You can also do other things with it like make dumplings, make a cobbler, make pancakes, etc.
Made biscuits using stick butter as recommended in directions; DELICIOUS and even though rest of family doesnt eat them so i had them in tupperware for few days, stayed just as fresh as when first made, and if anything, the flavor improved over days. we will be trying next the Carbquick pancakes
I have been using Carbquik for years. It makes wonderful low carb muffins and coffee cakes. I use it to make a high protein, low sugar and low carb blueberry muffin recipe that I developed. Even my picky husband who doesn't like "healthy" baked goods loves these muffins. Carbquik has been a staple in my kitchen for more than five years. I love this baking mix and always have plenty on hand.
I used it too coat it for a fish fry. it was delicious it worked perfectly. it's a lot of flour and can be used to replace all purpose flour in any recipe use the same amount which makes it very easy. the box came with recipes on the outside and on the inside lots of recipes and I found more recipes online. my husband tried a few things I baked and he couldn't even tell. it mix as well with almond and coconut flour.
LOVE! So glad I discovered this. Considering the low carb, protein and zero sugar it's a home run for me. I make cinnamon walnut biscuits twice a week. I tweak the recipe with a bit more Splenda . A staple for me.
I'm impressed. I've easily swapped this in to replace the bisquick. Now I can have country biscuits %26 gravy without the guilt. Today I added equal to the mix and cut the biscuits in half %26 added sweetened strawberries %26 whipped cream. Yum!
Great low-carb alternative really nice to make waffles with protein drink for a zero net carb breakfast or close to it at least. Not real good for pizza, but I tried anyway.
I have found that it is better to mix in other things, as it sometimes can be bitter. However, of you want a low cost low carb type flour, it's the only thing I've found that is budget friendly. The texture is also kind of grainy. I got a tip about adding a bit more baking powder and letting it sit for ten minutes to help with texture. Probably the best thing is just to experiment yourself with it and see how, or if, it works for you.
Advertising blurb reads: "Since it is make from wheat instead of soy, Carbquik makes great tasting low-carb meals that everyone will enjoy. " This implies there is no soy in the product. There most definitely is soy - as the pain I went through after eating this attests. I could not read the actual image of the box label online, which I usually do, as the image was blurry when enlarged. The text on the box itself when it arrived was too small for me to be able to read. (I'm old and my vision is impaired.) It was only after dealing with the after-effects and going back to the website to try to find out the cause that I saw another drop-down menu on the website that listed allergens - including soy. The other person in my household is not allergic to soy and also had a biscuit. Their opinion of it was "meh." The biscuits cooked nicely and had a good texture, although it did take a bit longer than expected for them to brown. Both of us could taste a slightly metallic, unpleasant after-taste - very much like there was too much baking powder in the mix - that put us off using this again. (My breath also smelled like that aftertaste for some time.) Perhaps if there had been stronger flavors involved (sharp cheddar, garlic, etc.) to mask the aftertaste it might be ok, but in my book if it doesn't make a plain biscuit well it's not worth having. Also, since I can't eat it myself, it doesn't make sense to purchase it. It's not cheap. One plus, when eaten as part of a meal, the biscuit did not seem to raise blood glucose on the continuous glucose monitor.
I bought this to make keto pizza dough. It is absolutely disgusting!! Tastes and smells like play dough!!! Doesn't crisp up, stays really soft. I par baked the dough for 20 minutes at 450. The dough just got darker and darker but it wouldn't crisp. Throwing out the rest if the box and looking for new recipes!
