Duncan Hines Keto Friendly Classic Yellow Cake Mix, 10.6 oz.

I have been disappointed in many gluten free/sugar free products and recipes, so I was not expecting much, I have to say I was blown away with this cake. Before and after baking it looks more like cornbread, so I was skeptical, HOWEVER, the texture is like a regular cake and it was light and fluffy. I made a boiled frosting with Swerve Powdered Sugar substitute, cocoa, butter and milk and it was fantastic. The cake has a bit of a coconut flavor, not overbearing, and I used avocado oil instead of coconut oil. I didn't mention to my husband it was GF/SF and he literally ate half of it! I also used an 8x8 glass pan instead of a round pan. It is a bit pricey, but the ones I have made from scratch were horrible and I tossed them out, so I figure this saves me money!

If you're used to keto items made with almond and coconut flour, this is a comparable dessert. It does have a coconut flavor especially if you use the coconut oil. You could also use avocado oil, and I haven't tried yet, but probably melted butter too. I made 2 boxes in a 9x13 aluminum pan for a birthday cake and made a sugar free strawberry jello poke cake. I frosted it with a tub of sugar free cool whip mixed with a box of sugar free vanilla pudding. Even the people who weren't on keto and usually don't eat sugar free totally enjoyed it! :)

I've been using this cake mix to make a lower carb version of pineapple upside down cake as my diabetic mother likes this dessert, but the standard one is extremely high in carbs and she can't have it. As brown sugar is 12 gm carb a serving, I only use 8 Tbsp of it in the brown sugar and butter mix that goes on the bottom of the pan. (Some recipes use 1 1/2 cups brown sugar.) I use pineapple with no sugar added. This cake seems to bake up very similar to regular cake. It's browner on the edges by the time the cake is done in the middle. Our oven is a little slow and all recipes take the longer amount of time, so it is the same for this cake mix. I do use the coconut oil as this box mix instructs and also use coconut oil to grease the pan. I've made it twice, muffin size cakes and an 8” cake. It doesn't stick to my pans and is easy to get out.

Moist, flavorful, and easy to make. This keto friendly yellow cake mix tastes surprisingly close to a traditional cake and bakes up really well. A great option when you're craving something sweet while staying low carb.

My best friend found this cake mix because she wanted to make me a pistachio pound cake for my birthday. And that cake was absolutely fabulous especially since I'm not a cake person. Now I'm buying this product and making a keto gf version of pistachio cake (with a pistachio icing I've put together that has no sugar :) for friends and family. No one believes its zero sugar low carb. The options are endless with a keto gf cake mix on the market :)

The cake is heavy on the sweet side. The almond flavor is delicious. The texture is a little dense. It's more like a sweet coffee cake than a regular birthday cake.

Ok, I'm just gonna be brutally honest... this mix tastes like it has coconut flour and almond flour. I would know if I would've checked the ingredients on the box. The reason I think that is because almond gives a different texture and coconut makes me gassy. Don't buy this cake mix thinking it's going to taste like regular cake. It's low carb because there's no regular flour. If you're used to keto, it's good. If you're not used to keto you probably will be disappointed.

I purchased the brand Duncan Hines yellow keto version cake mix because I never had any complaints about their regular cake mixes, but I have to be honest here. I prepared the cake as directed, I had high hopes this cake would be good but unfortunately it was not! Not only was disgusting, it certainly wasn't worth the money I spent! So don't waste your money.

Buying this and the companion frosting can..... I've spent $12.00 (PLUS you need coconut oil to make it) for an 8 x 8 x 1" tall "cake". BTW folks, this uses 3, yes THREE eggs for an 8 x 8 square pan. $12 for a small cake - seriously??!! - not worth the price at all, and I'm guessing it won't be long on the market.

Truly one of the grossest tasting boxed cake mixes I've ever had. Texture was grainy, all you can taste is coconut from the oil and they cooked oddly. I made mini cupcakes and I only ate one and threw the rest away. I'm confused by the good reviews!
