This is meant for you have a cargo rack or bars l, BUT even without them this thing is solid. I have it strapped down to the roof of my Honda civic. It holds a decent amount of stuff. And it actually does keep the rain out! I went through a really bad storm a few nights ago and this thing help up. I'll definitely be getting the bigger one :)

Made it on an 8 hour round trip road trip. If the strap ends are loose they flap noisily, and it only unzips halfway open. Other than that this was great for our 5 person family road trip. Beware if you don't have the front and back cross bars you will need those too. This was a quick and easy on and off for my husband though!

This worked really well. I drove from California to Missouri. It got rained on but stayed relatively dry. You can really shove a lot in there. The installation was easy. I did buy extra straps but only used one.

I bought it as an extra for my SUV rack, waterproof made my trip please and worry free about all my stuff getting wet.

I have basket on vehicle and I put a net over after attaching bag to basket and roof bars. Definitely need two people to load, put on roof, and tie down. Either you need to load it and then put on vehicle or need someone to hold in place while other loads. Would help if could attach to roof to hold in place while loading. Traveled VERY well. I went through two pretty bad downpour storms and bag came out looking new. Everything was dry. Put non zippered side toward front of vehicle. I have not had it long so time will tell for durability but so far I would recommend.

Drove 14 hours with this on top of my vehicle. It's durable and the straps are strong. The only bad thing is (and it's probably the way I had it strapped down) once I got on the interstate the straps started to buzz so loudly. Did not move at all during the drive and saved me a lot of room!

Not waterproof. It's a nice bag. Seems like good quality but somehow water got in and ruined all my things. I used it in the bed of my truck for things that didn't fit in our luggage. Like bags of things I'd purchased on my trip and everything that wasn't in a good plastic bag was soaked.

Bag started to shred in parts on the way back. I heard noises, pulled over and saw it ripping above and in one corner. had to take it down and squeeze bags on and between our laps.

I purchased this at the last minute when I ran out of space during a move. I have a sedan that does not have roof railings or a roof rack, so I was careful to read the online description to make sure that it could be used directly on the top of the car, before I made the purchase and had it shipped to me overnight. In the online description on the Walmart website, it specifically said it could be used directly on the car (I assume Walmart put in the information they received from the seller/manufacturer but the online instructions are not in sync with the instructions received with the product so that needs to be corrected immediately). When I opened the product and read the instructions, one of the first things it said was "if you do not have roof rails or a roof rack, DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. Needless to say I was very unhappy, as I was already tired and stressed because of all of the packing for my move, as well as short on time. However, I had to take time out to take it to my nearest Walmart to get a refund because I needed the money for gas, for my move. FYI, the product itself looked nice and seemed well designed and durable, and I would have kept it and used it, had the instructions that came with it advised me not to.
