Carlson Extra Large Black Metal Dog Crate is a great buy. This crate came nicely packaged and was very easy to assemble. Once assembled the crate measures 4 feet deep from the door, 2.5 feet wide, and 2 feet 8 inches tall. The metal used to construct it is nice and sturdy. The crate has one door and a removable pan that can be washed very easily. I currently have a growing Labrador puppy that weighs 25 pounds and I am using this for house training. This crate is working quiet well for house training and doubles as a very comfortable large place for him to sleep at night. My lab puppy is expected to eventually weigh 60-65 pounds and I am confident that he will be comfortable in this extra-large crate. The crate has some weight to it and would not fit in the back of my SUV. For transporting purposes I have chosen to use a smaller size crate. I plan to use this crate for a very long time and am very pleased with its durability, strength and looks. I especially like the large door that it has built in to it. The door is big enough for a large dog and has 2 locks to secure it closed. Overall, I think this crate is a great buy for owners of large pets.
I selected the large single door wire crate to review because I wanted a larger "hidey-hole" for my two dogs - a place where they escape to avoid unpleasant activities such as nail trimming. There were no dimensions given in the information when I made the selection so it is really too large for my 12 and 20 pound "girls". But it will still be put to good use. It was easy to put up - no tools needed. It comes all folded up and it is just a matter of unfolding the panels and pulling the door panel forward until it snaps into place. The spaces in the panels are 2 inches wide by 6 1/4 inches in height. This large crate was 28 inches wide, 30 inches in height and 42 inches in length and weighs about 31 pounds The door has two latches and is quite sturdy. The bottom tray is textured and is removable for cleaning. It seems to be made of durable quality material . This is a large crate and will give your big dog lots of room to sit, stand and sprawl out. While this crate is in the house I covered it with a blanket to make it more cave-like and put in their favorite blankets. Leaving the door open it will not be used for confinement . Our plans are to fold it up to its original flat form and take it along when we leave for warmer climates this winter.
I received this dog crate free for my honest review. We'll start with the packaging. Packed very well, but VERY heavy. We needed two people to move it. Just lends itself toward a good product made of heavy duty steel. The crate came with easy to read instructions. The crate basically just unfolds and snaps together. The dimensions are 48" x 33" x 30" and I have a dachshund and it's perfect for those days when he has to be kept in the crate for a longer period of time. There is plenty of room for him, room for his pee pee pads, water, and food. The crate is VERY sturdy and good looking. It does not look or feel flimsy. Good quality product and the biggest attraction is the size. His previous crate was just too small. This crate would be good for a larger dog, allowing the larger dog room to move around and still have room for his/her food and water. A dog bed would fit in here also, allowing for maximum comfort for your pup (or cats). I am very happy with the crate and I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs a good, sturdy enclosure for their pets.
The Carlson single-door wire crate which I received today appears be an excellent value. One minor issue was several sharp burrs located close to a few spots where intersecting wires are welded together. I filed the burrs down so no one is inadvertently scratched when handling the crate, and so the pets don't scratch their noses when sniffing their new cage. The sliding lock mechanism is easy to latch in place. I doubt that any dog could unlock the crate from the inside (though a raccoon or more dextrous animal might be able to unlock the crate). The included plastic tray is somewhat lightweight but we'll be adding bedding to the crate before transporting pets. The included assembly instructions are easy to follow, though I did need to use a screwdriver to gently coax a couple sides of the crate to free themselves. It appears that collapsing the crate for storage purposes will be relatively easy to manage. This process reminded me of assembling bankers boxes. The small size wire crate (24" length, 18" width, 21" height) will easily fit in the back of my small station wagon and be used to transport pets (a small dog, or two cats) over short distances. If you plan to place pets in the crate before moving the crate to a vehicle, beware it will take two people to move the crate, due to the bulky nature and lack of top mounted handle.
This Carlson metal dog crate is a really nice one. We were about to get a dog, and I was not sure what size it might be so I asked for the extra large size. Boy, is it big! We ended up getting a smaller size dog, but it fits her perfectly. It gives her plenty of space to sleep in and be in while we are away from home. It also has a pull-out pan in case of accidents the dog might have while in it. It is sturdy enough to prevent any escape and has a double locking mechanism that is easily slid into place, but durable enough to withstand dogs. It is very easily collapsed and to put back together again. Everything goes together to make it easy to take with you, if you need to. My brother had his wedding this past weekend at my parent's house and we were not sure how long we might be gone, so my husband brought the crate with him to put our dog into. It stuck out of our car's trunk, but that is expected considering how big it is. The black steel is sturdy and well-enforced. Dummy-proof to put together, as well. I have no complaints! It is a simple, great product for pets!
first this is a great cage for all sorts of uses and especially dogs but it is also great for other animals also any kind of animal such as dogs cats rabbits ducks I would consider it a multi use cage with a great locking system with locks at the top and bottom of the door that makes it escape prof if you lock both latches your dog will not get out of this cage and can be used to hold a dog for transporting him or to clean his kennel out exc, and if you are a dog sitter for friends or as a business I would recommend you get several of these cages you just cant beat the quality for the price with its heavy gage construction its removable bottom tray and the very easy set up ive ever seen it only takes two or three minutes to set this cage up it also has larger openings in the bottom of the cage which I think is great if you want to sit your animal on grass and very quick cleaning just spray it down with a hose and a little non toxic cleaner that is animal safe and its clean I also provided a couple of pictures one is of the cage empty and one with a dog in it he is a husky and lab mixed just so you can get the depth of it this mix breed is between 70 and 90 pound dog and has plenty of room in this cage he can walk around in a circle stand up and lay down with no problems and loved it I do recommend this cage to any one who keeps animals I know it is mostly for dogs but I live on a small farm and it has come in handy for multi uses but you do not have to live in the country you can live in the suburbs or in the city this is a great cage when ever you need to house or transport your pet
Overall I like this crate. I have a 22 pound dachshund and got him the 36”. It is the perfect size for him. Though it's a bit tall, he has just enough room to turn around and get comfy. The crate was very easy to put together and disassemble. We are planning on using this as our travel crate. The only reason I gave it four stars is the door handles seem a bit flimsy. They are pretty loose when “locked” and I think a crafty dog could potentially escape. There's definitely not much keeping them in place. I just have my fingers crossed my dog doesn't figure that out lol The wires themselves seem sturdy, and the crate held up fine when he jumped a little on the side. Overall it's a nice cage, just might have to get and extra security hook on the door.
The plastic piece that goes on the bottom was cracked. I could not get just that part. I had to return the whole thing, I haven't bought a new one yet.
The dog crate came nicely folded up with the instructions inside but It was easy to unfold and set up. The door was just wire bent around wire and it was a little tight to open and close but I think it will loosen up with use. It comes with a tray on the bottom that slides out for clean up for messes for crate training. No instructions on how to get the tray out, but I messed with it and figured it out. Nice sized cage. It fits my 65 lb border collie perfectly. I have no puppies crate training right now but use the crate to put the dogs up while I am gone, as I keep them in the house, but she is still too young to let run loose. I put a blanket in and a few snacks and locked her in. She didn't try too hard to get out, because she is used to it. I put the cat who was not used to it in there and it kept her crazy butt in! So if she keeps waking me up at night I now have a good option for the cat too! The wire seems pretty sturdy. It is not too heavy to pick up while empty. There are no handles to carry it with. You just have to stick your fingers threw it and carry it. So if you have a crazy cat or a dog that bites that you might want to move that could be a problem. Otherwise it is a very nice crate to use just to contain the animal. It is also easy to fold back up and store.
Very cheaply made and not worth the money. As hard as it was to fold out, I cannot imagine how difficult it would be to fold up. The crate itself is very flimsy. The two locks on the front are almost impossible to lock and unlock. The mechanisms do not line up properly and you really have to work at it. I am going to have to figure out another way to secure it. If it wasn't such a hassle to break it back down I would have returned it. It is the perfect size I just wish it was of a better quality material
