It lights very bright red on the first button push, almost too bright!! The second push is dimmer, more appropriate for astronomy. The dim setting should probably be first, but you can cover the lens for the first setting, once you know how it works!! It uses disposable AAA cells, I recommend alkalines!! There is no clip but there is a loop of wire you can tie a shoelace through!! This is very good value, I paid much more for red flashlights with fewer features!!

Have not used enough to rate recharge but I can say the light is perfect for night photography whether by camera or phone.

Good for nighttime. Easy to find with glow in dark handle. Not bulky, small enough to fit in purse without taking up space.

Small, easy to carry, durable, and bright. It also has a convenient carabiner for attaching to clothing or a backpack for quick access. I bought two of these Carson lights for an upcoming trip to Headlands International Dark Sky Park (Mackinaw City, MI) where red lights are necessary so as not to interfere with stargazers or photographers. A nice little flashlight for the money!

I love the low setting It's just enough to see your footpath and the high setting is super bright metal rubber LED loveliness a new favorite hunting light not to mention it keeps your eyes adjusted to the dark

Hard to find a reasonable priced red light for astronomy. First light is real bright. That's okay. Second dimmer light used most of the time. Glad to find it. Works great.

I took this to Florida for night time Beach walks and it worked great

Did not turn off, even after tryin multiple sets of batteries. This flashlight is very poor quality. Returned them both and will purchase from a store that does not deal with junk merchandise.
