Absolutely the best heat protection. Don't let the cost detour you - it's literally worth it. It does NOT leave residue on the hair and keeps hair from breaking when flat ironing. Has a great scent. I HIGHLY recommend using the CHI Silk Infusion hair serum after - that really seals in the moisture and leaves the hair SILKY and NOT oily! You can get a full size bottle of the thermal protector for about $5 more elsewhere, so shop around but the product is worth every penny you spend. You won't be disappointed.
I've been using this product for about fifteen years so I buy it for comfort. I know it works well enough and I'm used to the scent. The scent is strong, but not unpleasant for me personally. I always get the travel size which fits perfectly in my travel bag and doesnt leak
I bought this Chi 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray in the 2 ounce size to use for travel and it is TSA compliant to carry on the plane. I recently took a trip to another state to visit my daughters, and for me, this is a must have as this product works well at protecting the hair when using hair dryers and curling irons. I have the full size that I use at home. I use it all the time, on wet hair immediately after washing my hair and towel drying and before using the hair dryer and also as I use a curling iron, I spray each subsection of hair just right before I curl that subsection. This technique makes it a little damp, but when you put the curling iron, it doesn't make that sizzle sound, which is good because that could "fry" your hair. But I think that it is really helpful to spray it on each sub section prior to curling because that way, you know that each strand of hair that touches the heat appliance is protected and I feel like it helps hold the curl a little better. The nice thing is that you can keep this pump spray bottle to refill from your bigger bottle to always use for travel. I gave it a 3 for appearance because of the Chi brand uses a red bottle for a lot of their products and it's easy to pick up the wrong one. The scent is very light which for me, is perfect considering all of the products that I put on my hair with different scents can be a little overbearing. It is not sticky at all. This is a high-quality product, and I highly recommend it, so it is pricier than your average "heat protector", but definitely worth it.
The Chi 44 Iron Guard is our favorite heat protectant. My daughter and I use this on our hair when styling and it works great. It doesn't make your hair sticky or hard.
I usually use either the Chi Thermal Protectant spray or the Elvive spray. I try to pick the cheaper option, but both are my favorites. Hopefully they're doing the job. I particularly like the smell of the Elvive spray.
This product has a great smell and works wonders for my hair especially when using a curling iron. For me, there is no stickiness and the product helps with bad hair days. I can use it with dry hair.
This little bottle I bought has lasted me for several months. It convenient to throw in a bag and carry on trips. My favorite part about it is how soft it makes my hair feel and the scent is amazing.
I actually really like this heat protectant, mainly because it doesn't have that heavy, artificial scent a lot of sprays come with. It's basically scentless, which I appreciate — my hair doesn't smell like “product” after straightening, and that's a win for me. I did take one star off because if I spray it all over, my hair gets a little oily. To fix that, I started parting my hair into four sections and giving each one a quick spritz instead of coating every piece. That made a big difference. I don't use a ton of heat on my hair, so this level of protection works for my routine. But if you straighten or blow dry your hair every single day and don't like even a hint of oiliness, you might want something lighter. For my needs, though, this gets the job done without weighing my hair down or leaving a smell behind. This version is perfect for travel too!
I am surprised, it works my hair isn't fried but it is kind of sticky or weighted down which not what I expected from CHI however I think I should have gotten the cream instead.
definitely only for blowdrys if you try to straighten with this it stiffs your hair up and doesn't work
