ive tried several different brands for hard to cover gray roots. I tried Clairol root touch up, i did it myself in 20 minutes. the color not only covered the gray, but it also stayed, despite washing my hair several times since then.
It’s reliable, easy, and it blends like a dream. The shade seems to wash right in to whatever color my hair is growing back in as (mostly grey). Can’t beat it!
Seriously, the alternative to hours in the salon to spend over $350 for hair color and a few highlights! Girl, fix your hair at home for less and do the finishes with purple shampoo for a fab finish. Listen to me, it's fabulous!
My roots grow out pretty fast. I mostly get my dye from the beauty supply store but don’t always want to wait 45 minutes to rinse it out. This goes on just as easily, color my grays just as well and only takes 10 minutes. PLUS, my hair looks great!
This is so much easier than coloring all your hair. It blends with just about every shade.
Made my hair gorgeous. Dark brown- was a little worried at first, as I meant to switch last minute to medium, but it came out perfectly. I love it. I leave it on twice as long, due to very resistant white greys. I have used the light and medium browns also and it's the same thing you have to leave it on longer. I always finish by washing my hair well paying attention to my roots and conditioning. I recommend Dove intense repair one minute treatment. For some reason this one seems to make more than enough for my head while the lighter ones run a little short
The box I received was totally different than the one shown which I have used many times. The box is smaller than the original. At first I thought I received the wrong product and was ready to send it back. I opened to check and realized the product was the same but a very different box. I assume it works the same but have not tried it yet. If it is the same product it does colour nicely.
I have used this Touch Up product for years because it does the job and is not as damaging to my hair as other products. It can be messy trying to get the two tubes of the color formula mixed well in the tiny dish included in the box stirring with a stiff brush. I always have some slosh out the edge of the mixing container, so keep mine in the sink while applying. One of the things I like about this color is the ability to use different shades offering a bit of highlighting or low lighting when I apply. This formula blends the colors so there isn't an obvious divisive line where the two are applied. The stubborn grays I have usually are taken care of with the exception of the auburn shades. For whatever reason, they have ended up a bit brassy/orange like, requiring touch up to cover them. Blending different shades of brown has given the best coverage for me. The golden with the medium has a very natural tone and looks nice. I use tiny rubber bands to section out my hair and then apply the two shades to the small sections. Since I have a lot of stubborn gray, I leave on 20-25 minutes for best results. I then remove the little rubber bands, massage the color at the roots and let it sit another minute or two before rinsing. I must add that the gloves that come in the kit are not inclusive for old arthritic swollen joints. The sections where the fingers join the hand are tight and frequently tear when rinsing so watch out for that, or use other gloves. My root touch up color usually lasts about 5 weeks so this is an economical option when compared to my daughter's $200 salon color treatments. Price varies and fluctuates on this from $7-13 so price shopping is a good idea. I like that I'm coloring mostly new growth and not my whole head. This has helped me avoid damage to my hair. I will mention here, that the newest version of this color is now offered premixed, in a tube with a brush on the end of the tube. It is much easier, offers repeat usage and much less messy. It isn't readily available in my preferred colors so I'm using both products now. This color has always left my hair with a healthy shiny look at the end. Please note there is a difference in the level of color on different products. The level helps you gauge how long the cover will last.
Boxed was smashed on arrival, no big deal. Went to use and the crème in package was for blond hair, not brown. Opened second box and same blonde crème was in it. Very disappointed! Will only order Walmart “in store” products from here on out. No third party sellers! Luckily, I had 1 left from an “in store” purchase which has the correct color of crème inside.
Box was destroyed in shipping. Contents unusable. Waste of money. Buy in store only.
