Clear, Varathane Ultimate Oil-Based Interior Polyurethane, Satin-9161H, Half Pint

the best goes on great doesn't know spread out grace quickly and not with a young tit very nice very nice

Great varnish to protect wood against water. I re-coated areas on my plein air easel, sanding lightly each time until I had three coats and I'm all set to get out and paint again.

A perfect finish for the old noghtstands I restored!

I made new solid wood stair treads for my daughter's house and used the Varathane on them. I've always liked Varathane but with their new nozzle it went on even smoother. And Zoro's price was best by far! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Haven't used this yet but its highly recommended

Good product - used it for years. Best feature of this order was the overnight delivery.

Great product. I know this product is top quality in my opinion. I've used it for years and I'm always pleased

This product is low-odor, and dries to a pleasant, largely self-leveled surface. I have applied with bristle brushes and foam brushes, each to good effect. The can directs the user to sand between coats. The can does *not* specify grit. I learned, the hard way, that one should not sand things too smooth, or the next coat won't stick. Don't sand with the final grit being more coarse than 220 grit: Ending with, say, 150 grit can leave grooves in which grit or sanding dust may hide, trapped to mar the appearance after the next coat. Ending with, say, 1500 grit can cause the next coat not to adhere well. Whatever other grits you may use in prepping the surface for the next coat, make sure you finish with 220 grit, 320 grit, or something between 220 and 320.

This finish is too thin for my use. Every coat i applied soaked into the material and you can hardly tell it's there. I ended up using 3 coats before i could even see a hint of shine, but only in some areas where i applied it thicker. I could only recommend it if you have a painted surface or something nonporous like metal. At least the smell isn't too bad, like rustoleum paint only sweeter.

too glossy for satin
