Ordered a couple of sets of these for camping purposes and have no major complaints so far. However a few changes would make them slightly better in my opinion, like making them a tad shorter so they would fit inside a standard mess kit just for packing purposes, although they might fit in the taller upright Stanley mess cooker but I'm not sure about that. Also the rivets could be a bit shorter to hold things together better, but after trying a few things they seem to stay together better with the knife in the middle and the fork facing in instead of the way it is stacked when shipped. The spoon is also oversized to offer protection from fork stabs etc. when packed. None of these are a deal breaker for me and they are stainless steel, so worth it for the price. I will probably order a couple more sets in the near future.
This is made of much thinner and lighter material than what I used in the army, which is both good and bad news. For the occasional camping trip, this should be ok and last many years. The locking mechanism is not very strong, so the set will come apart easily in your day pack or luggage.
I had this set for a while till one of the rivets pulled out of the handle. Now they don't stay together. i threw them out as they don't serve the purpose anymore.
I had a hunch this might be something I should see in person before buying, and I wish I'd gone with my first impression. There's just not much to like about it, it's junk.
